My wife and I booked a room in the Morningside Inn for two nights--mostly just to sleep. Our room had a queen bed and its own bathroom, and the rate was $90/night plus tax--about 1/3 of what other discount hotels in the city wanted. The location was terrific for our needs. We stayed in room 505 and, contrary to what I've read here, we found it very clean and comfortable. The flat screen TV worked, the bathroom had fresh clean towels that appeared new, and the bed had a nice sheet and duvet--all clean.
I would not hesitate to stay at the Morningside again and if you need a basic room for a night or two while visiting NYC, which does not kill the budget, I recommend you give it a try!
We knew a trip to New York would be a
worthwhile experience, but we also knew it would probably be expensive, so we looked for a more moderately priced hotel, and picked Morningside. We're we surprised! The place is a gem. Located a bit uptown - away from the crowds, and reasonably priced.
Best of all it was a great experience. The reception was very nice. We met the manager Patrick, who is an ambassador of good will and efficiency. Our room was spacious enough. The housekeeping was impeccable, the place very clean. The bathroom spotless. And it was very quiet.
It's in a nice neighborhood, next to a University, which gives it a comfortable feel. It's an easy reach to all the attractions in the city.
Stay there. You wont be disappointed. You'll be very pleased.
I had a good experience with This hotel. We stayed 3 nights in a triple bedroom. It was clean. The employees are very nice and helpful. The location is good, very close to the metro and In a multicultural neighbourhood with easy access to Laguardia airport by M60 bus.
The front desk guy was really friendly!! The room was very comfortable and clean.
We stayed for 4 nights and got a great nights kip every night as hotel is located off the main road in a quiet road. Perfect for travellers who like a bargain, a great location and peace and quiet. Food, shops and atm within 5 minutes walking distance.
Mother, father and daughter stayed in the Morningside Inn twice: in july 4 nights in a room with shared bathroom, and again in august in a room with private bathroom. Staff was very, very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, rooms had TV, AC, fan, fridge. Shared kitchenette with microwave was very handy. Excellent location near Broadway with everything you need, e.g. restaurants, banks, subway (don't miss the enourmous grocery/delicatesse around the corner!). You might think that the carpet in the hallway is a bit old, but then consider the price! It is everything I ask for a budget hotel.
Before arriving at the hotel / hostel I was very optimistic about the place after looking at the bad pictures and reading a lot of the horrible reviews. I had booked the place because it had seemed much better than other hotels and hostels and also the price was brilliant for Manhattan. When I arrived to the hotel, it seemed very clean, although the hall carpets were dirty but this doesn't affect us so it doesn't matter. When we got into the room, we were very pleased. It had a soft double bed, an HD Lcd TV on the wall, a fridge really cold aircon and a cosy private bathroom. The room was small however just the size for us both. Room was cleaned every day and on th last day they let us keep our baggage there and have showers before our flight home. I would say if you book a private room, it is exceptional value for this little place and gave us a pleasant experience whilst staying in New York
Great place to stay a excellent value for your money. Close to manhattan and there were a lot of places in the immediate area to eat and party. The public transportation is very close also I will recommend this place all my friends!!!
Clean and nice hotel. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed my stay here.
