Editorial Review for Moomia – by Lori Fradkin

In Short
With hieroglyphics painted floor-to-ceiling, a faint scent of hookah in the air, and dance-floor DJs spinning house beats, this laid-back lounge blends the earth tones of Egypt with sophistication of Soho. Waitresses in belly-baring shirts and turquoise wrap skirts offer 13 tobacco flavors and more than 20 martinis to guests reclining on Middle Eastern-styled banquets. Though both levels stick closely to the theme, a horizontal mummy case downstairs lends extra exoticism.

I was here on wed this past week and really enjoyed it. The champagne give away for one full hour was unexpected but highly appreciated by our group of hard working nyers :) The girl singing solo was amazing. Never heard of her style but was pleasantly surprise. We dance for a wihile and had some sushi. The host was really nice and i enjoyed the dj playing minimal. I highly recommend this place.

- Had no problems getting my friends inside for a party. No pressure to buy bottles if we came early. - Waitress was very prompt with service - Music (house) was good, ample space for dancing (including couches!) - Host was courteous Cons - Sushi food for an egyptian themed club?? At 3 in the morning, one craves comfort food ! - Location - Mostly birthday party crowd ; so might seem not-too-crowded - Couch placement might get in the way of some dancing

Pros: Hassle free, not too crowded, music, service

Cons: food, not too crowded (!)
