Editorial Review for Tease – by Kristopher Dukes

In Short
The walls of this salon are bathed in lavender paint and lace stenciling, lending the feel of a downtown femme's to-die-for studio apartment. The chatty clientele, wandering in from the surrounding neighborhoods, talk with each other across styling chairs and to the three Tease stylists at work. Services include upkeep like hair color and cuts, special-occassion styling and blowouts, as well as look-changing relaxers and extensions.

I can't get into all the details because I will get myself all worked up. So I'll stick with the basics...I set up an appointment for a cut and highlight. Instead she barely cut it, more so gave me just a trim, and BLEACHED my hair! But it wasn't like a full bleach where it was that cool platinum white blonde. It came out all different colors...orange, yellow, white, YUCK! Mind you I asked for a HIGHLIGHT! And to top it off, the place wasn't even open when I went (like 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment). So i came back a few minutes after 1 and finally they were open, although the stylists looked haggered as if they hadn't even gone to sleep yet. While doing my hair, they kept on talking about the great night they had and how hungover they felt today. Uh, yeah I could tell they felt like shit..it showed in their work! My hair was a total nightmare. I will never go there again!

I have been a client at Tease since its inception and have always been thrilled with my experiences there. All of my friends and I visit Marji, one of the fabulous owners. Whether you have straight or curly hair, she will create magic with your style. The atmosphere at the salon is totally chill, complete with offerings of wine, coffee and tea. GO! NOW! Even if you don't think you need a haircut!
