Editorial Review for Cellar 72 – by Elisa Kim
In Short
Spotlights illuminate the shop's 3,000 bottles of wine, ranging from $5 bottles to $200,000-a-case vintages. A glass "window" set into the oak floor lets shoppers peer into the rare wine cellar, and sommeliers from notable restaurants--Per Se, Marseille, and Nice Matin--are there to pair their advice with the offerings. Browsing amid antique furniture and wine barrels, wine-lovers can help themselves with aid of a computer system that pairs food with the store's selections.

I just recently moved to the Upper East side, and this store and a few others were recommended to me. While the store has an excellent selection, and a unique layout, I found the staff very cold. I was made to feel bad about wanting a wine, that I guess, wasn't up to the standard of something they would sell, and felt pressured to choose something that they liked.I needed a good bottle to make Sangria, but didn't want to spend a lot. I wont be returning.
