The Scene
This two-story noodle house ramps up St. Mark's booming cheap-Asian-eats scene. True to the block's eclectic heritage, its large interior recalls a design store sample sale. Just past the juice bar, with blenders working overtime, the main dining room balances earthy notes like dark latticework and a door made from a lacquered tree slab with more modern touches like neon lights and a glass-enclosed kitchen surrounded by bar-style seating.
The Food
Some surprises reside on the pan-Asian menu. An entire meal could be made with the offbeat appetizers: Try crispy ribs coated with bits of roasted garlic, Japanese dumplings shaped like bookmarks, or smoky grilled mackerel skewers. Entrees are anything but ordinary. Slug-shaped noodles raise eyebrows in the Silver Needle dish, sticky rice wrapped in a lotus leaf soaks up the homey sausage and mushroom flavor of its wrap-mates, and noodles made from fish vitalize an otherwise placid house soup.

You be the judge here...I went to this spot for my lunch hour with my bf. We sat down placed our orders, the waitress brought over the soup and soda that comes with the meal. About 5-10 minutes later, the waitress brings out my bf's dish and walks away. About 20 minutes go by, he is now done with his meal, and another waitress comes over and asks if we need something to which we respond "yes, my order". Our waitress then comes over to our table and says the kitchen "forgot" to make it, do I want to wait for it? At this point, my lunch hour is over. Not once did the managaer of the restaurant come over, apologize for any inconvenience and suggest a solution or even a complementary dish. Instead, I left the restaurant hungry. How does that happen? Their wait staff is poorly trained as well as their manager. I have never been to a restaurant, especially in New York City, where a manager doesn't make up for a mistake his staff made. Any respectable restaurant will tell you this type of service is disgraceful. I wouldn't recommend anyone dine here. Not only is the service poor, the food isn't that great (I have eaten here before), and in the end you will only be waisting your time. The kitchen staff may "forget" an order...

I read the last 2 reviewers and thought I'd give it a try. Big mistake. I shouldn't have expected anything good where japanese, thai and other cuisines are made by a sole national. The thai food wasn't really thai ingredients. The chinese food was fine, because it was made by Chinese people. Anyway, it was all around disappointing. The price wasn't even that cheap. Just average. Anyway, not planning to go back.

Last time i ate there was almost 9 months ago. Nothing was special about that visit. I went back with 2 friends last Friday and noticed immediately they have added sushi. First I thought this is just another sushi shop but after we tried their volcano roll and dragon roll, I changed my opinion. They were amazingly good. My other friend who doesn't eat sushi tried their Tender Rib Soup Ramen which she enjoyed very much too. We also tried some sake slush at a bargain happy hour price which turned out to be good too. Overalll speaking they have improved alot.
