“the restaurant is clean, they play great music (while i was there i remember hearing gypsy kings and erykah badu), and the ambience is nice (dark woods, clean modern style decor).”
“The "angel wing" appetizers (chicken stuffed w/crab and shrimp) really are delicious, as is the custard dessert, and the coconut-mango tea is fragant and lovely.”
“Everyone thought the food was amazing, some of the standouts were the beef short-ribs, the duck curry and we all loved the Vietnamese coffee custard dessert.”
“Absolutely delicious Vietnamese food with really friendly attentive staff.”
“If I were to ask for improvement, it would be that the menu be expanded so that I can enjoy more of the scrumptious food!”
“This is my new favorite restaurant in the city.”
“Overall, it's a terrific restaurant, and I will definitely be back.”
“The staff was great.”
“All these positive reviews are really surprising: Tigerland's food is fine, with fresh ingredients, but it is seriously overpriced especially for Avenue A, where there's better food at better, cuter places nearby.”
“Haven't had as fresh and tasty a mango in a restaurant in a long time.”
So good!!. The food at Tigerland is delicious! The food tasted very gourmet and flavorful and was reasonably priced. Great staff and hospitality. The owners care about the quality of their food and ingredients -- Everything is organic and locally grown. We got the shitake and scallion fried rice, wild shrimp with mint, basil, and snow peas, chicken with basil and long beans, and pea shoots. All was great! For dessert we had a thai iced tea cupcake (mmm!) and a coconut pudding. The pudding was refreshing and perfect for the end of the meal (even though we were already stuffed from all the dinner we ate!) -- you should definitely order it when you go there. We traveled quite a way to get there but it was worth the trip. Highly recommended!
YUM!!!. Everything was just delcious! Its the best asian food I've had in ages. There was something for everyone in my group (veggie options for me and meat for everyone else). I definitely recommend the garlic fried rice and the cupcakes. Everything was fresh and just really really good--everyone at the table agreed. Highly recommended! And very reasonably priced for the quality of food you get.
Good food, good teas, great time. The food was very good here & they offered some exotic teas to accompany your meal. I came w/ a group of 12 friends & everyone enjoyed their meals. We each ordered something different & we were totally full by the end of the night.
New Favorite Spot. I would definitely recommend Tigerland to anyone who enjoys great food, attentive service, and a trendy atmosphere. The angel wings are a must try, creative and tasty appetizer. When ordering your meal, make sure to have a side of vegetables. I usually am not a fan of greens but you can taste the difference with the organic vegetable. I can't wait to go back for the angel wings, lychee soda, and the thai iced tea cupcakes.
What a find!. This is my new favorite restaurant in the city. Absolutely delicious Vietnamese food with really friendly attentive staff. I've eaten here four times now and each time has been a standout! The restaurant is a little set back from the street which is the only reason I can think of why it doesn't have hour-long lines outside. Lucky for me! They had a nice approach for a group dinner for 8 people (my husband's birthday) where I chose the menu in advance for a fixed price per head. No hassle - and everybody raved about the taste, the freshness and the quality of the food.
Best Thai/Vietnamese fusion food ever!! Go immediately, don't wait!!! Why are you still reading this!!??. I've gone 4 times in the 10 months they've been open. Each time was simply wonderful. Steve is the most gracious host ever. He used to work at ENJB, then Yumcha, and now here. The first time I went was during lent so no meat or alcohol but still had a wonderful meal with a dear friend. They make their own sodas! The second time I went with 2 other friends before seeing Madonna at MSG and though our meal was rushed due to the show, we still had great service and glorious food. I just went again with the most amazing woman on the planet (the right company makes a great meal even better) and was again humbled by the dining experience. The stuffed chicken wings and curry puffs were marvelous appetizers. If you like seafood, you must try the fish - so fresh! If meats suit you, the ribs will melt in your mouth or try the shaking beef!! The pea shoots as a vegetable and the rice with shiitake mushrooms to complement it all! I'm salivating just thinking about it. Everything is so scrumptious and organic, I don't understand the few reviews that claim the spices were overpowering or the prices high. Maybe their average dining takes place at a pizza parlor or chinese take out. This place is definitely a gem and sadly still relatively hidden. Wonder why each of those nay sayers only have one review listed on citysearch, competition perhaps!? Any way, just go and give it a try. You simply will not regret it, it is a very unique dining experience that should not be missed! I promise you, I do not pull punches. Read some of my other reviews and see for yourself! Happy Holidays!! ;-)
You Have To Eat Here At Least Once!. This place is unlike your typical Thai/Vietnamese restaurant. They use the freshest organic ingredients (they even make their own sodas -- forget about ordering your diet Coke!). The food is tasty. The service is pleasant, efficient and friendly. The ambiance is relaxed and chic. The prices are reasonable for what they offer. This is indeed a gem in the East Village dining scene. You have to eat here at least once in your life. I go there at least once every month.
Great SouthEast Asian and Organic too!!. Had a great tasty meal here last Friday. The garlic shrimp and Vietnamese crepes were standouts. Thought the food was well priced considering the organic and all natural ingredients. If you like coconut juice, try their version with condensed milk...sooo refreshing. I liked that they have a nice selection of non-alcoholic beverages, homemade sodas ice teas. My friend really liked their red sangria. The thai ice tea cupcake with icing was a cool cupcake version of thai ice tea...yummm. Will definitely be back but would possibly come earlier as it took us almost 45min to find parkin around 8pm-ish that night.
Great Customer Service, Food value is bad. Went there with a friend on a thursday night, we had the duck salad, angel wings, and the rice paper rolls. Entrees were the short ribs and the beef cubes. 2 glasses of sangria. The food tasted good, but for what the final bill came out to ($85 + tip) I could've gotten the same food from chinatown for a fraction of the price and to feed 4 people. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again, and maybe not even if i was in the area, although the service is really good.
Nice new East Village spot!.
I live around the corner and never noticed the spot, but what a find.
The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is authentic and tasty. The wine list is not very extensive, but it also isn't pricey. There's a few refreshing non-alcoholic beverages as well.
Although the place is not big, the tables were spaced nicely apart.
My only complaint is that it was a little brightly lit.
