Great! – The food and service is extraordinary. If your looking for a great quick meal this is the place to go!
Don't even bother – So I live half a block from this place and want it or not on a Saturday brunch when the hangover kicks in I'd rather go here than cook myself. I still hate every minute of it. Service is the worst hands down. Since when do I tip the waiters to give me attitude? Food is alright but extremely overpriced. And what's with the music? Can it get any LOUDER?
My last visit was the worst. Been seated for 15 minutes. It's a monday night so there are like 6 tables and 4 waiters, who are more interested in talking to the bartender than checking their tables. So as I said after 15 minutes of no waiter visiting our table I try to waive at someone.... Completely ignored. Even the manager was more concerned that the volume of the music was not high enough than actually trying to please the customers. So we decide to leave. I'm usually a very understanding person, having worked in the restaurant business myself so I rarely complain, but this was just outrageous. I approach the hostess, who was more concerned in talking to her friend on the next table than paying attention to us leaving. All she says is: "oh, I'm sorry" The manager overhears and after telling him that we are probably never coming again he manages to say: "So get out. We don't need you here!"
Customer service? They have none. I just don't understand why people go here when Astoria does have better places to frequent, places where you get service and not attitude.
Does anybody hear me ! – I spoke so loud I lost my voice. the guy next to me was literally on top of my table. The waitress sucked I think she might had gone to Greece to get my Frappe.
A Great Cafe in Astoria! – The music gets too loud at times. My boyfriend loves their food, I don't - I've had way better food for cheaper also, but I have always loved their desserts! I thought that their food is just a little pricey. Great desserts, great drinks, great atmosphere - could get a little too loud and crowded though. Altogether, I like it.
That's where I met my boyfriend!!!!
Great service horrible owners/managers – Love the scene can't stand the fat guy who owns it.
Great for just relaxing – Grand is great for just having a drink and catching up or making it a night out. Food is average but scene is fantastic- been several time and will continue to go!
Cafe chaos... – service was very scattered and for the prices, the food is not that good...place is a little chaotic with loud music and a bit confusing on what they want the place to be...cafe? bar? restaurant? also way too loud while you're eating...Astoria has a ton of other cafes that are more intimate and offer great food...
Watch out for FRADULANT CHARGES on your credit card!!! – I live in the area and have been the Grand Cafe many times. I was there a few days ago and found a change for 2 different amount for my dinner! The charges were for 17 and 14 dollars and I know that I only left a 6 dollar tip on the 17 dollar bill. I called Grand to have the charge reversed and could not be more upset about the response. The person I spoke with told me they were sure the charge has not been put through twice and that it took several days for a charge back to appear on my card. The person I spoke with DID NOT ask for my name OR look up any records so I don't understand how they could be so sure there wasn't an accidental charge. The person on the phone said the waitress should have told me they ran a charge twice. Any type of responsible behavior would have been nice since now it feels like I was given the run around and had my 14 dollars stolen.
Best Cafe in Astoria – Grand has the best food of all of 30th ave. Everything is made fresh daily and they have the best choices. I love sitting outside and eating a relaxing dinner. My roommate and I who live around the corner from grand go there as often as we can. We also like to go there and watch METS games!! I recommend this place for either a family gathering or a first date.
Horrible Service – I've been to this place twice and didn't like the food so I never bothered with them again. Recently an employee of mine ordered lunch from there and said the food wasn't so bad so I decided to give them another try. I asked her to order me a veggie wrap(it came with a choice of fries or greens) I also told her that I wanted fries with that. We were told that not only did they have no more fries but they didn't know when they were getting anymore in. Now mind you a side order of fries is $3 and a side order of onion rings is $3.25 I told the lady taking the order who was also the hostess just charge me the $.25 extra and give me the onion rings its not my fault you ran out of fries at 2 PM!!!!! She said no I cant I'm going to have to charge you the $3.25 plus the $8 for the wrap. So I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was aware of the situation and was not going to do anything about it. I simply told her than forget the order which by now was $35 and hung up the phone. This nutcase had the nerve to call me back and yell at me b/c I wasn't speaking to her very nice. Are you kidding me?????? Grand Cafe you really should treat customers better!
