quick spray tans in upper west neighborhood. I have always avoided the sun, but I hate being pale especially during the summer months. I have been stpoping in to Portofino every now and then to get a fake spray tan. I bought a series of 10 "airbrushes" and whenever I need a quick pick me up, i call for an appointment and fake tan it up. The only thing is it only lasts a week. if only they could make one that lasted a MONTH!

kind staff, good location. I really enjoy tanning at Portofino. it isn't crazy fancy, but the staff is always so friendly and warm and the tanning machines are top of the line. it is important that i don't go too often, but when i do treat myself, i always love it. i would say to try the mattress beds or the strong standing ones.

high pressure beds rock!. I have lived in LA, New York and Dallas and have never found a tanning salon that compares with Portofino. The high pressure beds are amazing! Their beds do not give a fake tan look, but a golden "real sun" look. I highly recommend this place not only for the quality of the equipment, but also for the friendly service. A+ guys

quaint tanning getaway. I have been tanning at Portofino for years and have come to love the ladies behind the desk. Despite all of the new beds and fancy technology I am still a fan of the vitasun mattress tanning beds. It is like a spa beach retreat just blocks from home. I have seen the other crazy looking intense one and I know they are popular, but there is something so refreshing about spending 20 minutes in an open breezy environment with the warm "sun" faking me away to some vacation. The only thing is that it can get crowded in the evenings. I usually call ahead.

Fan of the student discounts. I had no idea tanning was soooo expensive in the city! geez!! I am an import from the midwest and was just hoping for a little tan while i'm in the city for the summer. I am soo grateful my friend suggested this place. They don't advertise their student rates at the store, but I saw it online, brought in the coupon and got a sweet deal. It was 10 tans for less than $80. I think they had an even cheaper one for "off-peak" hours, but those times didn't work for me. I would def pass along this deal to any student in the area struggling to find a good tanning spot.

perfect when you can't get away. I was so bummed when work called and my beloved 4th of July plans to head to the beach were scrapped. To make up for it, I decided I would go tanning over the weekend to still get my well deserved summer tan. I went in thursday-sunday (uh they were even open on the 4th!) and got more tan than I think I could have in the real sun! I'm ob-sessed!!! I could get used to this fake and bake thing for sure.

Go to the park. I'm long time client... Im only using tanning booth "Matrix", I use to pay $35 for 12min and I was tann for all most 3 weeksor longer, today... it a different story. I pay as mach using the booth for the same time but it dose not looks like I hade any tann.

My opinion, as far as maintaining they are won't go beyond cleaning betwen the clients!!!

I understandit it difficult economic times right now but come on guys you can spend littel something and get new lamps!!!

was a great gift!. I got a gift certificate from my husband for an Airbrush Tan at Portofino. (my friend suggested it--he of course didn't come up with that on his own). I had no idea what to expect, but I have been complaining about being pale all spring so this seemed like the perfect solution. I was nervous about looking like a pumpkin, but it actually looked great! very natural and healthy. I just showed up in the suggested loose dark attire and the sprayer girl did the rest. I literally looked tan in a half hour. The only downside is this only lasts for a week! I might just have to buy a pack and keep this up for the summer.

sweet sweet service. I don't know that much about tanning, but I know i'm in good hands with this tanning salon. My favorite is Kate. She is always so positive, friendly and helpful. (maybe it is all that Vitamin D) Thanks Kate for always making my day whenever I stop by for a tan. I wish I wasn't so busy and made more time to stop in every now and then and just chat, laugh and get some of that good ol Vitamin D.

Convenient Cute Upper West Side Tanning. This tanning salon is right around the corner from my apt and my gym so umm-I have NO complaints about the convenience. This store has a huge variety of machines (many of which I have never seen anything like them). I don't know much about tanning so I just ask the girl behind the desk what she suggests and I do it. I always come out looking tan and honestly-thats all I want. The place is clean, but they do make you pay for the tanning lotions are usually not open after 9pm.
