great for keeping your tan. I got back from vacation and wanted to keep up my tan. BUT i didn't want to look orange or burn. Portofino set me up with a no-burning bed that makes me look and feel gorgeous! I only go every other week and I still get complements on my tan. Tanning here in the city has come a LOOOONG way from my coffin-like beds in Ohio. The prices per session are higher than back home, but my goodness--it is worth it- i don't have to come nearly as much, the tan lasts longer and it never burns. I just wish there was one closer to my office.

CHEAP - YET GOOD!. If you ask for a deal at this place, they will give it to you! The prices they list on their brochure are decent - but they will work with you to get the prices even lower! I totally appreciate that, being a student and all. I got 10 tans for $79. I can definitely afford a tan that is less than $8 right??? Good place to go if you're on a budget.

This is the greatest place!!!!. Portofino is number 1 in my book. The staff is absolutely gorgeous! They are So friendly, upbeat, helpful, and make my day better every time I tan. The equipment is phenomenal. I could see a dramatic color difference after one visit! Amazing! No other place I have been to in the city can compare. I discovered Portofino when I tried the salon across the street from them called Future Tans and frankly I will never return. It smelled like spoiled eggs. Clearly they don't clean or someone doesn't wash. I will NOT return to that place.

my tanning staple in the Village. I'm a grad student at NYU and found this place nearby my apt in the village. I'm pretty low on cash and was about to give up my tanning-fix when they just added the best student deal I've seen yet. I'm tanning right now getting 10 tans for 80 bucks. I use their stand-up and lower end beds to get more tans. Every now and then I use a crazy intense bronzing bed, but I am quite happy with my results from the stand-ups. I like that they provide eye wear, towels and little candies. My only complaint is that they are only open until 10pm or so. Sometimes to break up a study session I crave a tan and wish they were open 24 hours. Do they even have those in the city?? Oh, and their package system confuses me too. Otherwise--two thumbs up!!

Helpful staff. I'm just thankful, I guess. The nice girl at Portofino took care of me - and helped tan me for the most important day of my life so far - my wedding! Thanks to Christine, I looked golden and glowing. She went out of her way to make me feel confident and collected in the weeks up to my wedding. Of all the errands you don't feel like running in those stressful weeks, tanning became one of the ones I looked forward to! Thanks Portofino, if you read these!

dingy looking and got no color. I have always tanned at a high end tanning salons and stopped in this place cause i thought it would be nice, i just needed a quick tan since i was in that neighborhood. when i first stepped in the salon, the attendant sounded like she was on a personal call and had me wait in the seating area until she was done. when i finally was helped I asked for the strongest bed, the machine that she put in gave me color for 5 min, really disappointing, i spent $40 for nothing. To top it off the floor was filthy and the top of the bed had lotion smudges and it wasnt from me.

Secret Crush on Mr. Portofino. Goodness that man is hot! He is always so so tan, soo soo gorgeous, and A SWEETHEART! This boy is reason enough to tan everyday. I honestly tan even when my skin is golden golden golden just to chat with Mr. Portofino. There are a couple of us at my gym that are obsessed, but I am sure everyone who walks in the door knows who I am talking about. Sure the tanning is brills, the lotions amaze, but the real gem is the STAFF!

Selection is Out a this World!. This place has beds I have never seen before! They have one of everything - giving you so many choices. I always trust their recommendation, because I would have no idea which one to pick! Some of them look like spaceships! I love it, kind of exciting. I hated my old place cuz only ONE machine worked for me there...here, plenty of different machines (some even are standing up!) get me tan. They are open late, which seems weird to me for a tanning salon, but it must be because they do such good business! Village IS a late night crowd :)

Hot Spot for Tanning. This place reallly gets what Village people like myself want. They know how to get the vibe going and get the tan dark. Its not the type of place that will be all snooty or anything. They're chill there and the machines are AWESOME. Seriously. I tried another place and it didn't compare. I recommend the Matrix, its a stand up.

Tan-ies reside at Portofino VILLAGGGE. This tanning salon actually does what it says it will - makes you tan without burning you. The place across the street made me all red and when I complained, the girl at the desk acted like "I don't know......" - like it was my fault! This place actually gave me some advice and got me using a lotion. I guess the lotion is kind of the key. I got brown and not red and I will never go to that other place again.
