Good Lunch Specials. My sister, friend and I were on our way to have lunch at a turkish restaurant, and we bumped into this place. We took a glance at the lunch special and it looked like a pretty good deal. The place wasn't busy and we were seat ASAP. I got the lemongrass chicken, my sister got a noodle dish, and my friend ordered the pho. All dishes were surprsingly very flavorful and delicious, and the portions were big for a lunch special. I really enjoyed my sister's noodle dish and ended up finishing hers it was so tasty, and having the rest of my dish to go. I can't wait to bring my mom here.
Food & decore are adequate, service is poor.
I came here for a late lunch with a friend on a cold winter afternoon and we liked the way they had arranged space heaters to warm the place up. The decor was pretty good, especially in the lower room. Our waiter did not speak English well and had trouble answering menu questions, but that wasn't a big deal. The larger issue was that 20 minutes into the order thay had not brought the appetizers or even the beverages. (Keep in mind there were only about 4 other customers in the place.) I finally had to ask the waiter to please bring us our drinks. One of them was a hot tea - which was luke warm. So my friend asked to get it hot and they brought it back out 5 degrees warmer. On the other hand, when they eventually arrived, the soup and dumpling apps were well seasoned - quite tasty in fact. It took much longer for the main course to arrive, and by this point, I had pretty much given up on avoiding a slow lunch. I had the Pad Thai, which wasn't bad, and she had a broccoli dish, which was also ok.
If the service was not such a disaster I would certainly return here, but there are just too many other small asian bistros that get it right in this part of town to put up with these folks. Therefore I will not be a repeat customer. Incidentally, this restaurant was previously named Mazhi under the same owners, and before that named A-Mix. Not sure why they keep renaming it.
great sushi, great service. I've been meaning to write a review on this place for a while now. I live in the area and frequently come here for dinner. It's never crowded, which I can't really understand why. I'm a sushi snob, and frankly, it's very hard to impress me. Well, I'm impressed by Mazhi. Their sushi is always very fresh, the portions are huge, the presentation is always so creative/funny/elaborate/gorgeous. The service is great too.
eh. not that great. messed up my order and while most of the sushi was fresh and delicious, the tuna was gray and fishy. that kind of sucked when my sushi sashimi combo was made of more than 30% tuna (which could not be eaten). thai food is supposed to be great though and the place is pretty nice looking inside. i would try the thai.
Amazing Sushi - this place is a sleeper!. Not sure how this place stays in business because it is never crowded - maybe takeout, maybe lunch crowd - however the sushi is amazing - amazing $6 martinis too. Its close to my apt so I hope more people go because this is definitely a hidden gem. I think 34th st between Lex and Park doesnt get as much traffic as 3rd avenue at night - if this place was on 3rd it would be packed every night - I highly recommend this place
Editorial Review. Asian bistro offers a combination of Japanese and Vietnamese dishes, and is also available for takeout and delivery.
