Went downhill after only a year. I had been a regular when this place first opened. Great food, great service friendly people. After a while the Pizzas no longer had as much on top and it didn't seem as fresh. Also the staff while still friendly to your face seemed to forget about you when you sit down. There has been revolving staff with most nights the management waiting on a bulk of the tables, when they are not to busy talking on cell phones or standing outside smoking and talking to personal friends who are not dining. The exception is the blonde gal who is a manager, the gal works hard and takes care of as much as she can. I enjoyed it when it first opened great wine and food in a great environment but between the prices going up (which I wouldn't have a problem with if the food were as good) to cutting corners on service and quality of product it seems the managers are taking their customers for granted. I walk by and they still packem in most nights so I don't see anything changing soon. So if you want to pay premium pricing for apathetic service this place is for you. I for one miss the old Mammamia it was the perfect blend of wine, food and fun.

Service is one of the worst I have experience in NYC but the owners could not care less. Brought some friends to have a late meal, it would be their first time there and now their last. One of the worst experiences, service wise in the city. Three of us waited almost 1.5 hours for two pizzas, while the staff and management had fun with their friends at a large table. Nobody came to our table to explain the situation, after an 1.25 hrs when I finally could not handle my friends annoyance, I asked mgmt what was going on, I got some silly excuse, the pizza fell on the ground. After 1.5 hrs, I told the waitress we were leaving, she surprised and stopped us.................Basically you can put up with certain issues in a restaurant, but when you deal with people who generally do not care, and have no idea what common courtesy is, then you have to wonder (barely an apology and no discount). The crazy thing is they probably would have considered me a pretty good customer. I eat out 7 times a week and genuinely enjoyed going there, though the food at times was only passable, using salt in the water while cooking pasta is a fundamental of Italian cooking. It amazes me when I see Buon Gusto (by the same owner) full every night, I mean the food there for the most part is terrible.........I guess people have never tasted good Italian food, unfortunately. Anyway Mamma Mia lost a good customer but I doubt they care, seeing their attitude.

Excellent Food, Excellent Service and Child Friendly. I just found Oh Mammamia and have been there 3 times in the last week! The owners and staff are so friendly, but more importantly the FOOD IS EXCELLENT. In our group we had pizza, pasta and salmon dishes and everything was wonderful. The montepulciano wine was fantastic.

We were with kids the first time and the waiter was so fun with them. He gave them pizza dough to roll out and shape and then baked it for them! They had such a good time and kept them occupied and happy.

I'm very surprised to see any negative comments about this restaurant as I found everything to be great.

Good food but thought this was really strange. Been here several times and always had good service and really enjoy their pizza's and salads. The last time I was there, our waiter was just ok and charged us a dollar extra b/c the wrong pizza was on our check. Not a big deal and didnt say anything. But the next night when I opened the leftover pizza, one piece was missing from it, i'm still baffled of why they decided not to add this piece. Did they eat it or maybe it fell? It makes me wonder about the extra dollar on my check.

I hate paying for rude service. Service was lazy and uncaring even for a slow friday night. Pizza was greasy. Pasta was uninspiring and way overcooked. This is one of those NY restaurants where you're angry overpaying for poor food and service. Oh yeah, my date and I could barely hear each with the irritating noise that they tried to pass off as music.

What PLANET are the neg reviewers from?. I am honestly perplexed... one reviewer has said they have been all over Italy.. and gave this charming little wine bar a negative review - no disrespect, but perhaps all over Italy in a tour bus! We have been lucky enough to visit Italy many times and this wine bar's wine, atmosphere, quality, warm owner and delicious food totally captures the essence of the "real" Italy. We LOVED it, and will return again and again. We have already visited the "scene" wine bars with no substance with their silly wine lists and even more clueless wine waiteresses on the same and next street up and had almost given up on the UES. To be honest the negative reviews on this place had put us off and we bought into the other reviews - completely unfair and completely incorrect if you know anything at all about real Italian cusine and wine. Also, service is attentive and warm but natural, and not fake "in your face" - again, a mark of a true professional. If you are out for a serious and delicious date, with fab wine and even more delicious food, visit this wine bar - we had the cheese and cured meat plate which comes with a unique toasted bread, almost like a large pita, and also a delish pizza. We had such a nice time, we ordered a second bottle of wine and had a wonderful Sunday afternoon. This winebar gets a gold star!!

Gone downhill fast....too bad. My girlfriend took me out there for a belated bday celebration last weekend saying that she had been there last year and the food was pretty tasty. Unfortunately, it seems that the place has gone downhill since the last time she was there. Food was oily with little taste, even though the waitress said it was authentic pizza. We had both been to Italy last year (3 weeks in a Tuscany villa with a personal chef and 2 weeks on the Amalfi coast), and we both shook our heads in after the first couple bites. It was no where close to authentic pizza, not even close to the average pie in italy let alone some of the world's best places we enjoyed. I don't think the waitress has ever been to Italy. Anyhow, setting is okay, but the food was mediocre at best. I'd pass on this fraud. In the area, go to al forno or patsy's instead.

best pizza. Oh Mamma Mia is fabulous and Fun. Looking for a wonderful evening, great

ambiance and delicious food on the UES. Don't forget to check out the decor

- especially the light fixtures. Staff is attentive and personal. The

wine list is comprehensive and reasonable.

Terrible Delivery Service and Mediocre Greasy Food. We have ordered from here three times. And all 3 times, we have had to wait for over an hour for our food. Every time we called, the person on the line was annoyed that we would bother him with such silly questions/complaints. When the food eventually came, it was mediocre at best. Everything was dripping in oil and either under or over-cooked. The Pollo y Avocado salad is DISGUSTING. The menu doesn't tell you that it's greasy, fatty, dark meat chicken. The pasta is standard and very oily. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Authentic Italian. This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. the endive salad is AMAZING. All of the salads are delicious and perfeclty balanced. This is a nice place to go with friends for a great dinner, good wine and great company, but it's also perfect for a date.
