Editorial Review for Dressler – by Kathleen Squires
The Scene
Peter Luger is no longer the only draw to this isolated stretch under the Williamsburg Bridge. Dressler's designy interior--Gothic chic iron chandeliers, wrought iron-lined light boxes and a dazzling palazzo tiled floor--makes the area a destination for dining and decor. The heavy influxes of hungry locals and scouters from across the river have caught the kitchen off-guard, though, causing long waits between courses and an oft-flustered staff.
The Food
The seasonal New American dishes placate the pining patrons, with winners like an exquisitely delicate spring pea and fontina raviolini and a texturally compelling white bean and crispy artichoke salad. A slurpable ginger soy broth moistens a meaty red snapper and juiciness rules a plate of duck breast, leg, and meatball-like crepinette. Only the truly intrepid, however, have the patience for the appealing desserts, such as kaffir lime creme brulee and milk chocolate cheesecake.

What to DrinkTry house cocktails like the Gretsch, a cool combination of Hendricks Gin, dry vermouth and cucumber ($9) named after the former musical instrument factory nearby.

Came here for my husband's birthday and called ahead to make reservation and let them know it's a birthday dinner (hint, hint). They not only didn't put a candle in dessert, our waitress didn't put two-and-two together when he mentioned to her it was his birthday. Tsk. In any case, the food was very tasty - the raviolini was absolute perfection - Spring on a plate! The hangar steak, however, was charred black (we ordered it medium) and the seasonal black sea bass was tiny for the $32 it cost. The bread pudding was just ok, it would have been disappointing if it wasn't for the scotch sauce. We expected a little bit more for the money, especially in Brooklyn.
Pros: good food, nice atmosphere, beautiful space
Cons: overpriced, not enough attention to preparation, no bday surprise

We went on a Saturday night without reservations, recommend making reservations. Our party of four spent a few moments at the bar, it was lively and we didn't mind. Once we were seated, we ordered appetizers to start. The presentation was creative and the food tasted amazing. My main dish was very good, everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes and we promised we would go again.
Pros: FOOD!!!!
Cons: Not in Manhattan
