What People Are Saying About Anasa Day Spa

In Short – The sounds of Astoria's streets won't reach up the four floors and down the hall to this small, hushed spa. The soothing, low-lit reception room doubles as the pedicure area with two raised porcelain-basined chairs, but the chatter stops there. Tread lightly down the snug hallway to one of the five treatment rooms. One, equipped with a Vichy shower, is used for hydrotherapies such as the calorie-free chocolate mousse body wrap for slimming; the others are available for a myriad of facials, massages and more.

Awful massage
by webcritic at Citysearch
My husband treated me to a massage and pedicure at Anasa Day Spa, and I was so excited to have a little getaway. It was short-lived. The massage I got was the worst massage ever. I felt like the masseuse was just ... touching me. There was no pressure applied whatsoever. He ended up tickling me and I had to tense up my muscles to prevent myself from laughing. He did not notice.
I also was treated to the "ice cream" pedicure. What a waste of $50! Why would I want a Kool Aid flavor like "strawberry kiwi" on my feet? To top it off, my pedicure smudged in my shoes, and I took the polish off as soon as I got home.
In a nutshell: my back is more tense than before going to the spa, and I polished my toes myself. Why did I waste my mothers' day at this spa?!!
- Pros: Very nice mani/pedicurists
- Cons: Awful massage
Great staff and service

This place is great. I went here recently for the first time for a waxing service and I was so happy. The staff is so nice and accomodating and the girl who worked with me was great. They have a great spa menu with a lot of services to choose from which I will for sure be going back to sample.
- Pros: Staff, Service, Evening Appointments
Nice staff, but not worth it
by kerryliz at Citysearch
The cons:
- The layout of the spa is awkward- the rooms aren't sealed off and you can hear everything going on in the spa. (It's not easy to relax and enjoy a treatment when you can hear someone else talk about their skin problems.)
- They ran out of hot water during my treatment. It wasn't frigid, but the water was cool.
- Didn't really like the products. I think my skin was softer before the scrub.
The pros:
For a Spa Week facial, it wasn't bad. I would have liked more extractions- but I did like how my face felt after.
The staff seems young and inexperienced but nice.
I think I'd go back for a massage - have heard they're awesome there. Wouldn't go back for anything else.
- Pros: clean, nice staff
- Cons: loud-ish, awkward layout, body treatments not so good
Best service and staff

I visited Anasa 2 weeks ago for the anasa combo massage and fell in love with the service and staff. The service was so relaxing and soothing that I fell asleep. The staff was sweet and accomadating. They even fed my meter while I was in my massage. I loved it and would recommend it to anybody that loves going to down to earth spas.
This is NOT a quiet retreat!

As a special treat, I booked a delightful mini spa day for my mother and myself. Looking at various places in Astoria, I chose Anasa. The place itself, looks lovely. The owner is very pleasant, and Lori, who did my facial was lovely. And they did a great job on my eyebrows. That is where the delight ends.
During my facial, I could here the trains go by, "OK" I thought, I can block that out & did. But when Lori left the room, while my mask dried, the entire room started to vibrate and there was an odd "trembling noise". You could feel the vibration thru the table and see objects on the walls move. I quickly sat up, thinking that my Mom must be worried, as she is the nervous type. Lori reappeared, and explained that construction team next door was drilling into the wall for beams, and that they never know when that would happen. Well, it happened often. During the pedicures & manicures also, you could see the shelves and their contents shake.
Constructions was not the only issue. The spa is small, so my time with my Mom was interrupted when I had to sit in the waiting room, while her nails where done, as they can only do one at a time. Also, three day later, and I need a new mani/pedi, as the polish did not last, and my cuticles were not treated correctly. In addition, I was overcharged and when I called to explain, the receptionist did not understand, even when I explained 3 times, after losing my cool, I hung up. The owner called back, and offered to correct the mistake, by now I am too over this. I no longer care. My relaxing afternoon had been ruined and it cost me over $300, to be stressed out. Normally, I can stress out for free.
- Cons: no parking - not quiet
