Editorial Review for Sundaes & Cones – by Kiri Tannenbaum
In Short
Whitewashed walls, industrial steel vents and a painted tin ceiling evoke the feeling of a 21st-century ice-cream parlor. The house-made selection includes an intense mocha chip and rocky road with peanuts and marshmallow swirl, and also less-traditional flavors like dark crunchy sesame, sweet yellow corn and electric-colored wasabi. Sundaes, shakes and egg creams are on hand, and espresso or pudding-like Italian hot chocolate makes a perfect treat in colder temps.

Where to SitStay awhile and sit at the bar, where you can peruse the magazine selection while taking in the sleepy view of 10th Street.
The ExtrasCustom cakes are available for kid parties, though they're beautiful enough for adults.

After stopping in last week and trying some of their seasonal pumpkin ice cream, it was only a few days before I felt like going back ... and did! Most ice cream people know that it's hard to find a good independent and affordable ice cream parlor in the city today, but finding a good one that actually has serving sizes in good proportion to the prices..... that was the real shocker. Sundaes and Cones has a good selection of traditional and unique flavors, all which look worth trying at some point. Although its decor fits right in with 21st Century, it recalls the old days of New York ice cream parlors with some good old fashion fountain drinks like ice cream sodas, floats, and egg creams. Milkshake float anyone? Some cafe always goes well with the ice cream. A great place to stop in on the go, hang with friends, or bring the kids.
Pros: Ice cream variety, good people behind the counter
Cons: Located on a quiet side street that most would probably walk past.
