The Scene – The stylish restaurant's undulating wood ceiling beams mimic the sea and point to the sushi bar. All other elements--deep reds, rich golds, a polished wall of mirrors--indicate that this is a restaurant in which shapely, attractive form reigns supreme. A split-level design separates the bustling front bar from the dining room a few steps up; the more romantic tiered lounge has its own bar. Ladies dressed to kill dwarf groups of men and dates. – – The Food – The 11-seat sushi bar is helmed by chefs who serve notably fresh fish, such as the Kani Nigiri and…
will never go back

The service was terribly slow, and the food was awful. Fishy fish, soggy calamari, everything drenched in too much sauce, and WAY overpriced. there are so many other choices for restaurants in this area, I'm sorry I wasted my time and money at this restaurant. I cannot believe the positive reviews on this place. If you know the difference between a good restaurant and a bad one, don't go here.
- Pros: comfortable chairs
- Cons: food was horrible
Great Bar Experience

I went to Japonais to meet a date and I was a bit early so I decided to have a drink at the bar. The Asian (I'm not sure of her background but she's definitely a mix of something-very beautiful.....) female bartender was very attentive and friendly. My date came and we ended up having dinner at the bar. I was having such a great time that I didn't see the point of moving to the main dining. Everything she suggested were delicious. I especially love the tuna ceviche and beef carpaccio. The bar suddenly became so busy but she made sure that we were ok by checking on us every now and then. I would definitely go back but without a date this time.
- Pros: Awesome Bartender
Amazing spot in a area of the city with few options
by Katie30 at Citysearch
I loved the atmosphere. It was elegant and perfect for a date night. I have had been there a couple of times for business lunches but not in the evening. Little different experience when the bill is on your tab not the companies!
- Pros: Shrimp tempura, the rock, le quack
- Cons: little pricey for my favs
