What People Are Saying About Planet Thailand 212

In Short – An offshoot of the Williamsburg original, the Chelsea space affords more room to play. Eye-catching details prevail: a large-scale mural of the emerald palace, bizarre video art installation and striking center bar resembling a Thai monument. Diners munch on everything from pad thai to pineapple roasted duck in a creamy curry sauce. Other unique offerings include the Angel roll--peppered tuna, eel, salmon, yellowtail, avocado and asparagus--and matching peppery cocktail, the Spice Me Up.

Planet Terror!!!
by Sri Raja
We went to Planet Thailand 212 for dinner. Initially we were pleased to see a nice decor and bright lights at this local thai restaurant, where we were hoping the food would be good. Boy were we disappointed. The food was average at best, the service was way below par and the manager was incorrigible. First, the waiter forgot our order, then after asking multiple times about our order we got our dishes. When we were honest and upfront and told our server, that we did not like the food, the manager stopped by and started yelling, that everyone likes bland food, we do not make spicy thai food, because no one can handle spice. After we explained, how our server had forgotten our order, she gave us one item on the house, with a grumpy face. Overall, we were disappointed and will likely never go back here again. Great Location and ambience, poor service and a incorrigible manger.. what a Shame!!!
- Pros: Nice Decor
- Cons: Terrible Service, Average food and a Disgusting Manager
The RUDEST wait staff

Me and my husband went for a bite . The server did not serve the right order and insist on giving us something we did not order . One dish plus 2 drinks . $44 . for thai food with bad service ? The waitress did not speak english ? what gives ?
Horrendous service, subpar food
by nychica5
The worst service I have ever experienced! First our waitress didn't speak a word of English, and so could not answer any of our questions. I appreciate them trying to be authentic, but come on, some English would be nice! Secondly, the food hardly lives up, or can be compared to other thai restaurants in Manhattan. Finally, they charged my credit card twice, and when I called to let them know of their error, they were incredibly rude to me and refused to refund my money! I will never go back, and will be tell all my friends to stay away.
- Pros: large space
- Cons: service, food
Definitely not your ordinary Thai place, it has originality in food and atmosphere.

I LOVE this place. From the food to the the brightly painted walls & floors, comfy booths, clear pink chairs, the artsy videocams, & the gorgeous orange/red tiled bathrooms ( i know i must sound strange).... But in all seriousness! ...I am most picky w. food quality, freshness & taste and this place rates well! Portions above average. Rarely, some dishes can seem a little on the salty side, service can be slow or quirky - but who cares if all you want yummy thai food in a fun atmosphere? great for large or small groups.... favorite dishes = Spicy Thai noodles & Crispy noodles w. Seafood. Salad is a must. Dessert: all are good but i recommend the creme brulee or baked pear. Definitely not your ordinary Thai place, it has originality in food and atmosphere.
- Pros: I just love this place
- Cons: A bit off the beaten path (but that's good so its not toooo crowded all the time.)
incredible food

The 1st time I came here was while aimlessly walking around on halloween night 07'. This place ended up being 1 of my top 3 places to eat in the city since then. The food goes beyond expectations every time and it's affordable. The mood is cool, ample room for large parties, good music BUT the service never gets better. It's slow every time but I tend to not care anymore since I love the food so much. I've also ordered take-out which has been up to par as well. Just be very clear when ordering and expect it to be slow, no matter how busy (or not) the place is.
- Pros: excellent food, high quality
- Cons: really slow service
