Nice and cheap. Clean, friendly, low key, great alternative to the places on Greenwich Street. Have been there many times, living close by, always pleased
Great Spot. This place is one of my all time favorites. I have done my engagement party, bachelor party dinner, 30th bday dinner and a Holiday party there. The service is as great as the owner Joe. The menu is extensive and has just about everything that you imagine and then some. The Greenwich Bites, which are not on the menu are my favorites. They are fried olives stuffed with mozzarella cheese. Unusual and unreal. The place has specials on the menu weekly and all that I have had have been great. The chicken buffalo cheese steak with bleu cheese is a personal favorite. They are very accommodating to large groups. Joe understands the importance of making the event special and is very welling to work with you. He has closed the place off for a private event for us and even allowed us to bring our own desserts in for our engagement party. He also worked out a fairly priced 4 hour open bar for our guests. The atmosphere is quaint a relaxed. The fireplace is a great touch and you booths are comfortable and allow for private conversation while the bar area is more upbeat. Bottom-line is the place is great and I would highly recommend for after work happy hour or football Sunday or a private event.
Food and Service were great. They have an excellent menu and the staff are always pleasant. Will be there on our monthly trip to NYC on Friday 4/11. Nice neighborhood atmosphere and not pretentious!! Gary
QUALITY FOOD AND FUN!. I went to the Greenwich Street Tavern last Thursday with a few of my guy friends and was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be a boring sports bar, turned out...I wanted one of everything on the menu, and all beers were $3 during the happy hour!! couldnt believe it. and it wasnt too stuck up like some of the bars in the area. It was just a fun place to be. You could eat, carry on a converasation and listen to music all at the same time...which almost never happens! and LADIES!..TONS OF AVAILABLE MEN! A great place to go if your looking to snag a working man! and for the guys, there are televisions, low prices an attractive staff. Everybody wins!
Always a fun time. My roommate and I love this place! The appetizers are great! I had a shrimp and portobello entree and my friend had the salmon both amazing! The music is great. Tuesdays there is live music. Thursday and Friday pretty packed so get there early. Best part no matter how busy the staff is always on top of it without being too pushy. Great spot especially for Tribeca!
Not a big fan. I've been here several times, some for lunch, others for drinks, and although I haven't had a bad time I haven't had a great time either. As far as lunch goes I think the burgers from Pig N Wistle are far better. Prices are better there too. Drink-wise its ok, they have decent happy hour specials and the staff is very friendly. It fills up with the corporate-goers since the Citi building is right across the street. But music: ehhhh. Value: ehhh. Ambiance: ehhh. Id rather go to one of the other bars on the blocks around there.
love this place !!. I just moved into the area a few month ago and found this bar which has now been a must stop in for me after a busy day at work b4 i go home. from the food ,to the staff, to the atmosphere it's all top notch. The place has whatever your looking for. big menu, great looking bartenders(especially on thursday night),and if your a big sports fan like me,all the big games on 5 big screen tv's for you to watch. football season is the best..it's the only place in tribeca to watch all the games.Place is a mixture of suits and regulars but still maintains a great environment. Also, they have live music on tuesday nights now and the singer is really good.
A GREAT FIND!!!!. I was in Tribeca over the weekend with friends (party of six) looking for a place to eat. We passed by The Greenwich Street Tavern and loved the atmosphere so decided to stay for dinner. We were immediately seated in a very comfortable large booth. The restaurant was lovely, with beautiful Christmas decorations and fresh arrangements, so warm and welcoming. They played great music, and then, much to our surprise, had live entertainment. Everyone was having a great time. Not only do they have a great menu, but prepare specials that you would find in a 5-star restaurant (and very reasonably priced). Our waiter, James, was very friendly, attentive (but not intrusive), and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Greenwich Street Tavern was such a great find -- everything was exceptional....the food, ambience and service. Overall, we all had a fantastic experience and will definitely dine there again.
EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If you like eating food out of the garbage can, by all means eat here. We had dinner for the first time at this establishment on last Saturday night with a few friends. My boyfriend didn't finish his sandwich and asked to have it wrapped before we left. As our friend waited for the restroom, he looked into the kitchen to see the waitress and the busboy accidentally throw the sandwich away, pluck it back out of the garbage can, and put it back on the plate to be packaged to go. The waitress dropped off the to go package a few moments later.
When confronted, the waitress said, "well, I didn't do it, the busboy did."
When the manager was confronted he said, "well, they said they didn't do it."
As an ex-restaurant manager, the idea that my staff would give out food that was in the trash can and then lie to me about it, can only reflect back on the manager. Like I said, eat at your own risk.
A Hidden Treasure!.
Several friends and I were looking for a decent bar in Tribeca to celebrate our friend?s birthday. Fortunately, while walking around we happen to come upon the Greenwich St. Tavern. We had a party of over 14 individuals and were cramped at the bar. Since this place doubled as a restaurant, there were tables to be occupied.
The bar was not crowded at all, and as a result, the staff let us take up three booths. The staff was courteous, professional, and just down to earth which made our friend?s birthday great. The music was not loud, which enabled us to have normal conversations without screaming over the music.
At the end of the night, some staff members did some card tricks which only added to great time we had there.
