“Very nice atmosphere, great food, i had the antipasta italiano and lasagna and it was to die for.”
“We also got the chocoloate cake for dessert, pretty good, the cake was dry, but the moose was very good.”
“It's the perfect local place for foodies in the hood to sneak off to for a few drinks or great, simply prepared Italian food.”
“If you like fresh ingredients & great homemade Italian.”
“There's nothing good about this place, not to talk about the backyard (what is it.”
“The service is fantastic.”
“Terrible food; expensive restaurant”
Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi, of Parm and Torrisi fame, turned the old Rocco's Restaurant space into a lovingly art-directed tribute to the posh Italian-American restaurants of midcentury. Which wouldn't matter if the food wasn't superb.
LIKES IT !. We stumbled upon this restaurant late one Friday night while getting some fresh air. It's easy to miss (no sign). The inside is just as small as it looks. It looked comfortable, but it was tight. We made the decision to sit in their tiny, outback patio. The patio was what put the atmosphere over the top. It only has about 8 tables, but the decor is charming and the views of the towers above are wonderful. The wine selection was pretty good. We split a bottle of Montepulciano. We both has a summery (it was August) seafood dish complete with shrimp and scallops and summer greens that was absolutely perfect. Our appetizer was a simple mozzerella, tomato and basil dish but the vegetables were fresh and the baffalo mozzarella was clearly fresh and made in Italy. The balsamic drizzle just added to the effect.I'll return here without a doubt. Good Service ! 5 STARS !
Worst place we visited in NYC.
Well it was just terrible. I can't understand how the rating here is high.
It took ages to be given a menu. Then ages to take the order, which was done by as distracted and hassled waiter.
The three of us were staying across the street in a friend's apartment so we chose this for proximity. What a mistake.
My 'pizza' was some undercooked dough. No tomato sauce. Some cheese and I'd say a half a tomato chopped onto it.
My sister's pasta was al-dente if you had teeth of iron. It wasn't cooked. The sauce was terrible.
My Mother's sea-bass was ok. That's the reason I gave it a star.
So service was terrible, food was terrible. The tip was zero.
amazing authentic italian food.
I had an amazing Dinner at Carbone Restaurant . The food was amazing i enjoyed a great plate of home made pasta with seafood and lovely desert The service was great and everyone out of my group enjoyed dinner very much. I highly recommend Carbone for a romantic authentic italian dinner.
We will be back soon for a christmas dinner party.
Perfect restaurant!!. The Pizza was fresh and full of flavor....could really taste the freshness of ingredients. The service was very friendly and attentive (unlike other places nearby). For pasta OMG!! you would believe it you can't find a fairly price like this in this town. The owner was very nice with my kids he gave the homemade dessert on the house to them. My kids still screaming to me all the time that they would love to go back again.
The best Italian Restaurant in Midtown !.
As a real Italian man who knows her Italian food (yes, I've been all over Italy), I must say that Carbone's is undoubtedly one of the best in the City. If you're looking for a truly authentic meal, real Italian sauce, and a true taste of Italy right here in the States, this is the place for you. Since my first visit, I've been hooked. I've tried over 3 of the pasta dishes and loved every bite! The seafood salad was...incredible, to say the least. Great service...and real Italian cooks, not the fakes we get in half of the Italian pizzerias and such. I must say that this restaurant rivals with the best of them. Try it for yourself. You're sure to be impressed!
The food, the ambience, and the super professional and welcoming staff. Summer time the backyard is open. :-)
Authentic ITALIAN RESTAURANT !. We stumbled upon this restaurant late one Friday night while getting some fresh air. It's easy to miss the entrance. The inside is just as small as it looks. It looked comfortable. We made the decision to sit in their tiny, outback patio. The patio was what put the atmosphere over the top. It only has about 8 tables, but the decor is charming and the views of the towers above are wonderful. The wine selection was pretty good. We split a bottle of Falanghina white wine. We both has a summery seafood dish Branzino sciue sciue (Naples dish) and summer greens that was absolutely perfect. Our appetizer was a simple mozzerella, tomato and basil dish but the vegetables were fresh and the mozz was clearly fresh , the balsamic drizzle just added to the effect.I'll return here without a doubt. the owner actually came over to make sure everything was ok and sent a dessert (tiramisu) over on the house.
Great Italian Food!. Authentic Italian Restaurant with daily specials and fresh pasta and pizza.. great backyard in the summer and a typical italian flair surrounding. If you like italian food you are right just at this place!
Great food ! an Pizza too !.
As usual I used Yelp! to help me find something different for me to eat.
I came across Carbone and it had 4 stars, so I figured why not.
Let me tell you this was one of my favorite dining experiences in Midtown.
This is a great little restaurant tucked away in the garment district all by itself. The staff was very attentive and you get this great bruschetta appetizer right when you sit down....(before you order your drinks.... I know!)
While we were picking out a wine we were introduced to the man who owns the bar and Naples woman who is the chef. The owner is originally from Rome and it certainly shows through on the food and decor.
While I was there I felt like I had traveled back to Rome to have a romantic dinner with my wife. The food, service and wine recommendations were excellent.
If you want a nice relaxing meal with good food and good people, you should go here.
great italian food.

The food is great and plentiful,,,cooked fresh and served with a smile.. the owner actually came over to make sure everything was ok and sent a dessert (tirimisu) over on the house,,
I give this place a 10 and will definitely suggest it to all my friends.
