Stay for the coffee, leave from the crowd. Spacious well lit coffee shop located right in the middle of the NYU campus. The coffee is fresh and definitely a step above the Starbucks norm. The place is amiably spread out with table and counters in the front and a more open back area with couchs and lounge chairs. Comfortable to pop open and finish that novel you were reading. It is however extremely packed... of NYU kids naturally. So it can be hard to get a seat depending on when you show up. If you like hanging around pretentious little snobs or just want to kick the cr@p out of them then come here. Well that and if you like good coffee and some fairly good sandwiches to boot.

Great socially-conscious Fair Trade, organic brew with a rich flava!. * Cafe donates approx. 20% of their profits to worldly/needed charities and puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to supporting the betterment of those involved in the coffee trade supply chain. In addition, the space is big and lofty with a somewhat rustic feel with large wood pillars, old tathered lanterns decorating the wall & lots of exposed brick.

* Coffee is strooooong and good and they serve it large enough to suspend anyone's coffee fix (at least for a while). Their desserts are mixed, some looking homemade, some perhaps store bought from a decent bakery but probably locally. They also offer soups though I've never indulged.

nyu pseudo intellectuals and tooo trendy for you staff. I work around NYU so I figured I'd take a venture and check tis place out, as its known for cheap food and comfy couches. True the tofu salad was pretty scrumptious for a mere 6 bucks. But the staff calls "Line" like its a privilege that they're taking your order at all. Then when you finally finalllly find a seat all these NYU kids with their fancy Mac computers look at you like your an oddity for not being pre-pubescent or wearing the latest Urban clothes. Worth it for the food or if you're going to get there early before the crowd packs in.

Great coffee, poor service. Great coffee, cute little hang out spot - but they keep raising their prices so that even Starbucks' prices look reasonable. Even with all the extra that they're making, the employees are still extremely disgruntled - maybe give them a pay increase to make them smile once in a while?

Expensive Coffee, Holier-Than-Thou Service. I've given this place four tries, and every time it's let me down. The hot paninis are great and some of the pastries pretty good, but the service is awful (sullen and holier than thou attitude), and on music days it's not worth sitting in. Other than that it's a neat space, and someone should think of a better use for it.

great coffee shop. In defence of the staff at think! okay so you get the odd sullen barista but generally I love this place and teh people who work there. I go nearly everyday as do most of the NYU law students who live in the law dorm one minute away. The coffee is great, I live on their soup and sandwiches(even if they're a little expensive) and the hot paninis after 7pm are great too (especially the chicken one). The cakes are so-so maybe, but the cookies are yum. The music is good, only downpoint is that its often hard to find a seat. But seriously, I don't know what I'd do if think didn't exist.

my favorite cafe in the city. this place rocks. the coffee is good & strong AND people got paid a fair wage to pick it AND trees didnt get cut down. the ice cream is amazing. and the staff is so hot it's a wonder the ice cream doesn't melt.

also there is free live music on thursday nights - quality music, in an intimate setting - and sometimes readings and short-film screenings. it's a focal point for a lot of creativity. and vegan desserts.

plus, free wireless. what more could you want.

Loud a.s.s. music, but good coffee / great place. Ok, I like the place, but good god the staff is deaf. DEAF! The music is always so frikin loud. LOUD!

Nice place but repeated terrible service. I live very close to this place and walk by every morning. Its a big space and the coffee is good, but I still cant reccommend it at all. Unfortunately all of the staff all of the time seem particularly cold and haughty. They are all (it seems) NYU undergrad women and always looking really trendily bored. Stoney eyes and no smiles ever, even when they are talking to each other behind the counter. I have to stress that I'm not picky about service in a coffee place. For example if I ask where are the tops for the coffee they simply pretend not to hear me even if I ask politely a 2nd time and then a 3rd time. Its that kinda place -- best avoided if you want to grab a coffee. The staff manager really need to rethink the type of staff he/she is hiring there.

Blocks from the NYU campus, this large coffeehouse provides a haven for intellectuals, dreamers and those in favor of sustainable agriculture. Milk is supplied by a Hudson Valley farm and all the coffee is organic, certified fair-trade, and shade-grown, meaning no trees were needlessly cut down for the beans. Teas, espressos, cafe au lait, and affogato (espresso with ice cream) are on the menu as are bagels, soups, salads, sandwiches and treats--all made daily.
