One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The location, decor, and price make this one of favorite restaurants in NYC. All the food is excellent, portion size is great, and they even have a $7 lunch speacial that's amazing. Definitely check this place out.
Neighborhood Thai Restaurant.
I used to order "Room Service" for lunch all the time when I worked in Chelsea. That was over 1 year ago.
I returned this week for dinner with two other girlfriends of mine. I was all nostalgic about this place and couldn't wait to introduce it to my girls.
I started off with their cocoktail, "Room with a view", which is a vodka cocktail with lychee infusion. It was great. Then, I ordered the usual, pad kee mao with shrimp and my girl ordered the same dish with beef.
When the noodles came, we were both disappointed. It tasted as if the chef fell asleep while cooking so the noodles were all soggy. I felt cheated and betrayed because they used to did a much better job.
We eventually told our waiters to get a new bowl of the noodles because it was just unbearable. Fortunately, the second bowl of noodles is just right and the flavor is great.
I didn't know what happened to the first one but I was actually shocked that they screwed up two bowls. Otherwise, I would have given them 4 stars.
Ok Place - Nothing Special. I dont know what people call "cheap". Me any my wife spent $125.00 for dinner at this place. This is not cheap. Its average. Bit of loud music which I didnt mind. Overall, I give this place an average. Would I go there again - probably not, unless it I can't find another place to try.
Favorite lunch spot between classes. This place was the perfect lunch spot between classes at FIT. Only $6 would get me chicken pad thai and steamed veggie dumplings! The decor is cute and inviting with colorful hotel room furniture and giant chandeliers. I got hooked on this place because they serve several lychee cocktails year round, including the lychee mimosa and lychee sangria. This is a great place to take a shopping break with friends for lunch or even sunday brunch!
Loved it! Great prices and food. I loved their curry puffs! I probably could have eaten 3 orders of them they were so good (LOL). My girlfriend is a vegetarian they substituted meat on one of her dishes. They got the order wrong but when they got it right she said it was delicious! It was loud, but who cares? Most places we go out to eat is too loud, but the food and price for RS make this one of my favorite places to eat.
yummy and cheap.
This is probably your best bet in Chelsea considering how overpriced restaurants are on 8th ave.
Ive been to Room Service tons of times, and i never get sick of it.
The wait staff is friendly, the food is good (peanut sauce is amazing!) and relatively cheap. You can easily have a drink, appetizer and main dish for $25-30. If you go during happy hour there are lots of drinks for $5 ( I believe its 5-7 pm)
The decor inside is really nice too. Good lighting and cozy. It can get nosiy in there and sometimes feels like a gay club with dance music playing in the background all the time. Some people may like that...i like to be able to talk to my dinner companions and not have to shout but hey thats just me.
Overall, a great place for the money.
I have a stomach ache.
The food was good (we had pad thai and a curry dish), but my husband and I got horrible cramps after eating the food. We ordered twice from this place, and we got stomach cramps both times so I'm guessing it was not a coincidence. Needless to say, we will never be ordering from Room Service again....
Order at your own risk!
Great Atmosphere! Real cute place, good food, and CHEAP!. I was there tonight (02-01-09) and I had a GREAT time. I found it right here on citysearch and decided to give it a try. The service was pretty good and the decor is simply adorable. It was a bit noisy but I could hear my date just fine. Dumplings were so-so but I recommend the pork chops. They were devine. I would go hear on a date night or for some drinks. Ill definantly be back
