In Short – Classically trained in a three-year barber masters program in Poland, Bart Trybala (aka Barber Bart) also worked in Germany, London, and at the famous Chelsea Barbers in New York City before opening this three-chair shop in 2004. The mahogany work stations, oversized black leather chairs and marble floor give his narrow, charming space an Old-World feel. But modern touches--such as skin-softening pre-shave lavender oil, hot eucalyptus-soaked towels and Japanese seats as comfy as worn-in recliners--inspire both a macho and metrosexual clientele to indulge themselves.

Best haircut and overall grooming experience for a man in NYC
by gyatman
Although initially skeptical about the recent buzz around Barber Bart I was soon made a believer when seated in the comfortable massaging barber chair and treated to a quick machine massage on the shoulders and neck. As the scissors began to fly and conversation was struck I felt like I was talking to an old friend in the neighborhood barbershop...just like the first time my father took me to get my hair cut decades ago (minus the old stacks of Playboys found at my father's old barbershop). We discussed my upcoming wedding and the best way to groom my hair to look very conservative in a tuxedo and yet be able to style it in other enviroments to be more urban & edgy...and then my wishes were put into action.
I've had my haircut all over the city trying to find the right combination of service, atmosphere and overall understanding of how a man likes his hair to be cut and groomed. Barber Bart fit the bill on all fronts and I can't say enough about the experience. Let the women have their salons...a new retreat for men in need of a shave and a cut has been skillfully established...and I'll never go anywhere else.
- Pros: Skilled Haircutting, Great Atmosphere, Incredible Massage Chairs, High-end Grooming Products
- Cons: Pricier and much trendier than your average barbershop - but this isn't your average barbershop
