Extremely difficult management

I used to really enjoy evenings at the upstairs loft of Professor Thoms.

However, do NOT throw your party here, at least not if you're expecting it to be free. While the loft is beautiful and the drinks reasonably priced, the $100 'refundable deposit' was in fact, never refunded, despite the initial agreement to use it only as a place-holder.

Multiple conversations with the bartender and weekend manager that night, a visit to the bar the next morning, and 6 unreturned voicemails in the following week could not compel them to keep stick to the agreement.

When there are hundreds of bars around Manhattan that don't charge for parties, why choose this one that does?

Great Place to Throw a Party!

This year we held our holiday party upstairs at Professor Thom's and it was AWESOME! Great people, delicious food, and a festive atmosphere. And to top it all off, they cut us a really great deal on the party, so we got maximum fun for a very reasonable price. I would highly suggest renting out Professor Thom's for a party!

Horribly rude manager...

They say the customer is always right. Don't try to preach that at Professor Thom's, at least not to the manager/bartender who is older with grey-ish hair and likes to wear yellow button down shirts. This guy was incredibly rude and didn't care at all about the customers around him. I am surprised this guy is employed at all with that kind of attitude. He was rude enough to convince me to never step foot in this bar again. If you are into managers of bars treating patrons with no respect, this is definitely the place for you. If you are someone who appreciates good, friendly service in a comfortable environment, don't expect that at Professor Thom's.
