In Short – Mixers churn vats of dark, white and milk chocolate in this whimsical cocoa palace. The bar dispense habit-forming hot and cold drinks like dark chocolate granita or the Chockie, a thick chocolate milkshake with a peanut base. The restaurant offers everything from dip-and-roll-your-own popsicles to three varieties of warm chocolate soup topped with marshmallows and strawberries. Savory crepes, waffles, salads and sandwiches pad bellies so as not to ruin chocolate dinners.

  4. You come in expecting a great meal, atmosphere, and service, and, you get it.

  6. The setting was very romantic wit.
  7. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is friendly although they kept getting our orders mixed with a couple sitting near us because we both had an asian man at our tables.
  8. the design is warm and cozy, just like a chocolate place should be.
  9. The roasting is tons of fun, the chocolate makes you happy, and the entire experience is absolutely fantastic.
  10. It's a fun place with interesting, original desserts.
  11. The theme is fun and the place is nicely decorated; I can imagine that it might eventually be popular in the malls of Jersey, but if they don't fix their service problems before the novelty is gone, NY'rs will probably have their fill in short order.
  12. am sure that everything else there is just amazing but there is so much dessert and so little stomach space :))) Love this place and I am very sad that they closed the location in my favorite neighborhood in St.Marks Place :( It was a great place for pe

  3. hope they improve their service - I love the desserts!
  4. chocolate drinks are served in a unique ritual.
  5. They even have delicious chocolate pizza, but the best is their 'Hazelnut Praline Crepes', out of this world good.
  6. Another gripe - they are so often out of specific desserts it's incredible.
  7. The problem was the cookie wasn't very good at all.
  8. The prices were reasonable and I'm definitely going back to sample the deserts!
  9. go for max favorite breakfast, a coddled egg with cream and ham and crunchy bread sticks to deep inside the comforting delight.
  10. The deserts are actually decent, but the portions are SO small!

  17. The white chocolate fundu was excellent as well complete with an array of fruit and little pieces of banana bread.
  18. absolutely love this place because chocolate is my weakness.
  19. Wall-to-wall crowd, no reservations available, HORRIBLY SLOW SERVICE, expensive, don't buy cocktails - they have no alcohol, not even a taste, you'll end up spending $12 for a cold chocolate in a martini glass.
  20. You're better off with cakes like the Intense Double Chocolate Fudge Cake, which is phenomenal, or the tasty drinks like the Chocolate Chai.
  21. Highly recommended for desserts!
  22. It's a fun place with interesting, original desserts.
  23. The dessert was pretty interesting, so I would recommend people to either take out or just dine in for the desserts.

  54. But Union square is a nice location and you want a chocolate fix it's a good place to stop for the atmosphere.
  55. Ordered the Italian Thick hot chocolate (go for the dark; white chocolate isn't truly chocolate and milk chocolate is just too sweet) and the Whole Grain Antipasti Toast from the Healthy Max Menu (figured I had to compensate for the bad calories somehow).
  56. The "healthy" cheesecake is inedible.

Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate!

by Rinabrazil

I have made a youtube review video of this place. It wont let me post it here but you can check it on my youtube channel: Rinabrazil88

Or on my Blog:

www(period)Marina-Santos(period)com/Blog

But below are few of my thoughts on this restaurant:

Do you like/love chocolate????

Because if you do you are going to LOVE this place! The name kind of says it all- "Max Brenner Chocolate" restaurant.

Their menu is great and very innovative. They have incorporated chocolate in foods that you normally wouldn't think of- such as Chocolate pizza and chocolate dusted fries- but everything is AMAZING!

The staff was also super friendly. They gave us suggestions about their favorite dishes and they were extremely nice when we asked to shoot inside of the restaurant. If you are a chocolate lover you MUST go to Max Brenner Chocolate restaurant, you are going to feel like you are in the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"!

Horrible experience

by AnthonyWid

My worst experience at a New York restaurant. I have been to Max Brenner twice. The first time we were greeted by some not so friendly or interested hostesses. That was fine, we only had to put up with that for a short while. Once we were seated, we ordered, enjoyed the food and waited the usual 10 minutes for the waiter to even look in our direction so we could pay. Our second experience was not so delightful. Same snobby hostesses who were tolerable, nothing new. The waiter, Matthew, was initially very attentive and friendly. We were very impressed. Unfortunately once we received our food, which was very quick, the small flame which was prepared gradually grew into a large flame and one of my friends got burnt and knocked over hot syrup onto another friend. There was a big crash which turned into a mess. Not a single waiter or waitress bothered coming to see if everything was okay. Other patrons nearby kindly gave us their napkins and asked if everything was okay. We waited 15 minutes while our waiter flirted with the waitresses and every other waiter blindly ignored us as we tried to hail one down to get the bill and leave. Eventually we had had enough and went to the hostess to request our bill. She was just as warm as when we first arrived.... we waited another 10 minutes while another waiter tried to locate our waiter before we could settle. We will never return to Max Brenner. It is a lovely place, but not worth dealing with such incompetent or inconsiderate staff.

Chocolate!

by ejay1314

It's absolutely delicious! It's kind of expensive, but I'd say, why not indulge a little once in a while? haha. The place was like a chocolate factory, which is probably obvious given it's known for its chocolates XD

It's great and addicting! Definitely give it a go!

OBSESSED WITH THE COOKIE SHAKE!

by LivRyan

Got out of work early yesterday and was totally craving chocolate. No better place than Max Brenner. Such a fun atmosphere where everyone is happy for the obvious reason: they are eating chocolate. So I thought that it would be fairly quiet at 5:15 given that it is the summer time, but I was totally wrong. The place was jammed packed. I was expecting all dessert options, but was surprised to see that they have a fairly large menu. I ordered the veggie conscious burger with mushrooms and was pleasantly surprised. The waffle fries were awesome, they were dusted in chili powder and what looked like chocolate powder. So yummy. I had the Cookie Shake and all I can say is OMG! That was the highlight of my day. I finished up my meal with a chocolate cookie. I couldn't resist it. Not too adventurous yesterday, but totally satiated.

Imagine dying and going to Chocolate Heavan

by ValerieBarbie

Me and my friends went NUTS they had chocolate covered in chocolate smothered in chocolate and then dipped in chocolate sprinkled with chocolate and on the side. CHOCOLATE. I had a freaking chocolate martini. How do you make alcohol with chocolate? That's nuts.
