The Scene
Because a first haircut can be a hair-raising experience, Cozy Friedman has created a kid-friendly salon that tames tykes' nerves and their tresses. The bright purple, yellow and red space is part playroom, part salon; little ones perch on mini-Jeep barber chairs and watch cartoons, play Nintendo or blow bubbles while stylists sneak a snip. In addition to a steady stream of neighborhood regulars, the hot-spot-for-tots has hosted the offspring of celebrities like Meg Ryan, Rosie O'Donnell, Liam Neeson and Stephanie Seymour.
The Services
Cuts from one of the child-experienced stylists include a lollipop, balloon and free toy from the house goodie basket. For first-timers, a lock of hair is attached to a Certificate of First Hair Cut, which commends them for their patience and bravery. For girly-girls, the salon also hosts "Glamour Parties" that include everything from manicures to dance lessons.
