Pearl Art & Craft Supply. I always loved coming to this place as an undergrad and an art minor. Located in the heart of Chinatown this place is great if you ever want to compare prices to other nearby stores depending on what particular items you are looking for. However, you probably won’t find prices for top of the line art supplies like you would in Pearl. The prices here are very competitive and they have almost every kind of acrylic or oil paint you would want, rolls of canvas and stacks of stretchers, and entire aisles devoted to markers, pens, and papers. Pearl has other locations in New York but I prefer Chinatown. They market themselves as “the world’s largest discount art supplier,” and they sell products online as well as in stores. I really recommend visiting in person though. The staff is usually very knowledgeable and helpful. I could easily waste an hour inside just looking for one item, and I often find myself tempted to purchase tools and supplies we don’t necessarily need. They also have a small selection of artists’ stools, drafting tables, and lighting. If you’re setting up a workspace, it’s a good place to shop for cool-looking organizational and office furniture for less than you’d pay at a furniture store.
