PLEASE NOTE PRICES
by citybeach at Citysearch
the website lists that gel manicures are $25. I therefore stupidly did not ask when I got them done at the salon, and they ended up charging me $42. It's my fault for not asking beforehand, but please take note that their website prices are not accurate. Just a warning.
Great Salon in Herald Square

I work on 35th street and I've been getting all of my stuff done here for the past 3 years - manis, pedis, waxing, facials, a massage every now and then. The place is very clean, which first pulled me to it. Also, it's very big compared to other dingy nail salons in the area.
I used to get around 3 manicures a month here but the place just started to offer something called OPI gel lacquer manicures, which is basically a manicure on steroids - I get my favorite color "I'm really not a waitress" and it lasts without chipping for about a month, even more if I'm careful.
I get all my facials/waxing done by Sumi/Sue, so ask for them - the usual customers ask for them and they are great! My boyfriend gets his massages exclusively done by Kevin. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area and you're guaranteed great service if you go with one of the employees I mentioned.
Love this place

It's really nice to find a clean, pretty serene place in midtown to have your beauty stuff done. I go here regularly for manis, pedis and waxing (leg and bikini), and have never had a bad experience.
Kind of amazed at the negative reviews - so different that what I've found. The technicians are careful and professional, the atmosphere is relaxing, everything is clean and well-maintained.
I'd definitely recommend Green Tea - it's my favorite salon in this part of the city.
I do bring my own polish (but I always do that - I want to have the right color to do interim repairs); it would be better if they had Opi.
- Pros: great service, nice folks
- Cons: limited nail polish selection
thrilled!

I work right around the area on 36th Street and I luckily passed by this gem on my way to macy's one day! It's kind of on a random block -- one where you wouldn't expect to see a Spa, but it's wonderful! As soon as I walked in, the lady up front guided me to the back to get my mani and pedi and a wax. I wanted the wax after my nails and toes so while I was lying there under the light getting my brows done, I guess the esthetician noticed that I haven't really been taking care of my skin...She explained some easy treatments for it and I had some extra time so I decided to get an express facial! She led me upstairs to the second floor which was totally different from downstairs. The colors were very warm and it was so quiet and peaceful that I actually fell asleep during the facial! FYI, i am not the type of person who usually naps during the day. Of course, being me, I noticed a chair massage seat on the way out and decided to fit that in as well. It. Was. Wonderful. I felt like I was floating around on clouds the entire day.

I have been to GT for a mani & pedi a couple times and noticed that they sold dermalogica products, which i use. i usually get my facials at more reputable spas in nyc but i decided to try GT thinking that since they sold dermalogica they must be trained by them... here is what went wrong;
the woman did not leave the room while i changed into a towel wrap, she was extremely aggressive with extractions - to the point where i am bruised all over my face today, at 1 point i opened my eyes during the facial and noticed that the door to the room was left open - during the entire hour, she also put a mask on my face and left the room for over 20 min (door still open) - i tried to open my eyes at one point to see what the heck was going on but the collagen mask was also covering my eyes, when i left they did not change the sheets or towels they just remade the bed.
it was a horrible experience. dermalogica should check up to see if trained estheticians are actually performing their facials.
It looks nice inside, but obviously looks are obviously deceiving.
if you are looking for punishment bring your face here! I would NEVER go back here!
- Pros: looks nice inside, sells dermalogica products
- Cons: horrible facials, overpriced, untrained staff, dont change sheets between customers
