“Amenities were almost non-existent and the staff was clearly unhappy.”
“Services are a bit pricey but worth it!”
A hidden gem!.
I cannot even begin to describe my experience at Spa Chakra today. I had Anthony, and he was, by far, THE BEST massage therapist I've ever had. Not only was he thorough in addressing my problem areas but the stretches he did on me improved my entire spirit immensely.
The space in general is beautiful. 3 showers, a steam room, a relaxing library, a small cafe upstairs, etc. I could even pick the music I wanted to listen to in my treatment room! Crazy! Eva Cassidy and I got along very well during my massage with Anthony
As if my day couldn't get any better, Glenn offered me a complimentary blow dry. Amazingly sweet guy, and I'll definitely be coming back to him for blowdry in the future.
Services are a bit pricey but worth it!
Leaps and bounds better.
I have been a loyal guest of this space since Cornelia first opened its doors almost 4 years ago. Let's get a few things straight:
The service declined drastically when Cornelia went under. Amenities were almost non-existent and the staff was clearly unhappy. It was not the spa that I had enjoyed for years prior to this.
When Spa Chakra came in, it was a rough transition. I was just in a few nights ago and I am RELIEVED to report that not only is it leaps and bounds better than when they took over about a year ago, but in many ways it was even better than Cornelia in it's hay-day.
I used to pay approximately $350 for the "top grade" one hour facial at Cornelia. I now pay $299 and the service is now 1.5 hours. For some reason, the staff at the front desk and the therapists just seem happier when I walk in. There's a different energy.
Ric Pipino is the new salon director and his staff made me feel right at home, as if I had been going there for years. A rarity in the salon industry.
All in all, it's still my favorite space in the city. A beautiful roof top deck and cafe, a changing room that has anything you could possibly want, and top notch therapists!
Wow, now that's a SPA!. This spa has everything I ever wanted in a spa and more (including the right to choose your own music which is unquestionably cool). The relaxation room was wonderful and the technicians friendly and very skilled. My overall experience at Spa Chakra was a total pleasure and I cannot wait to go back.
I have had nothing but great experiences at Spa Chakra.
Are Spa nyc and NY Stateofmind one and the same person? Strange that they have only one review each and in it they write similar comments bashing Spa Chakra. Can you say ex-employee? Save your bitter words for someone who cares. Have you nothing better to do?
Enjoyed the treatment and the service. Was given a gift voucher and after reading the previous reviews on this site I was reluctant to go. Booked a facial and manicure and had a great experience. Honestly I didn't notice any negative attitude from staff. Had lunch in the cafe and then was ab;e to go back to the relaxation library and relax for a couple of hours. Would definately go back.
