“Whisked promptly to your seat, which could either be a window seat with a perfect street view of the 2nd Avenue, or a more secluded area inside, woven with traditional japanese bamboo that exudes a calm and serene dining ambience.”
“drinks werent too bad either.”
“I'm glad this restaurant is in my neighborhood so I won't have to go far for good everyday sushi.”
“We had a great server who took her time to explain the menu to us in a very entertaining way and at the same time make us feel very relaxand happy.”
“Ko Sushi - very friendly staff”
“Great food ,great customer service and reasonable price.”
Good Service, Really Mediocre Sushi. I do not understand the reviews raving about the sushi here. I had the sashimi bento box for dinner last night. While fresh, the sashimi was cut way too thick, a very rookie move. To eat it in one bite would make someone gag. Also, the cuts were chewy in parts and not cut according to the grain of the fish. The California roll was comparable to something you'd find in a grocery store and the accompanying salad was over dressed to the point of being inedible. On the positive, the miso and shumai were tasty and the service was very pleasant.
Masters of Customer Service. I love going to this restaurant because in a city where restaurant staff make you feel like you're lucky to be in their establishment - Ko Sushi is the opposite. When you arrive, you're welcomed as though you're Frank Sinatra and seated at the best available table. They have great lunch specials (even on the weekend) and are willing to accommodate your food allergies/preferences. The staff is appreciative of your patronage and the food is quite good. Try the Chicken Katsu - delicious and not greasy. The decor is very warm and with attention to detail normally unseen at a casual restaurant. Check out the bathroom - actual room to move, river stone floor, fragrant soap and always clean. This owner knows how to do business and you will appreciate that!
Best Japanese Meal Ever... best japanese meal ever. everything i ate was beyond amazing. please go and experience for yourself. this restaurant does not need an introduction. regardless of prior expectations, it will take your mind.
awesome sush/japanese. Very friendly, good atmosphere, bright windows. The food is extremely fresh and delicious. At lunch, you can't beat the pricing. drinks werent too bad either. Very reasonable. It ends up a stand by favorite when mom and I cant decide where to go eat:) Service is quick and polite. I ve been to Japan-this fish is FRESH!
Great sushi! Fast and good service. I lived in Tokyo for 8 months so I'm a self-confessed sushi-snob. I like my sushi traditional and very fresh and Ko sushi meets my expectations. I'm glad this restaurant is in my neighborhood so I won't have to go far for good everyday sushi. Try the salmon tartare!
Great Place. Being a well travelled and an avid food fan, especially Japanese food, I am so glad to find a place in my homecity of New York that offers good Japanese food and a wonderful dining experience. One can be expected to be greeted by gracious hostess upon setting foot into the establishment. Whisked promptly to your seat, which could either be a window seat with a perfect street view of the 2nd Avenue, or a more secluded area inside, woven with traditional japanese bamboo that exudes a calm and serene dining ambience. The food is competitvely priced, but never disappoints. The staff are ever pleasant and attentive, besides having a good knowledge of its food served, which i find many recomendations a good choice made. Either having a drink after a long day or a visit to satify my cravings for japanese food, this place is the first that comes to my mind. I would recomend Ko Sushi to anyone, who truly enjoy his/her food and a wonderful dining experience.
loved it!. went to ko sushi recently with a small group, were seated fast. They had an original/creative sushi menu. Enjoyed the hot sake and delicious sushi. Helpings are generous and reasonably priced. This is my new 'go to' sushi spot- friendly service, good food at decent prices. Must mention the black cod- beautifully cooked and delicious with the miso sauce.
The prices on their website need to be updated. The sushi was just okay. There was nothing special about the quality of the sushi. The tuna wasn't even the freshest cut. Also, don't go to the web site because the prices on there are inaccurate. I would just go here if you are in the neighborhood. i have had better.
Finally, a fabulous Japanese "home".
Casting about for several months after the close of our favorite neighborhood sushi place, we gave Ko Sushi a try. Initially unsure of the ambience and proximity to the noise of Second Avenue, we discovered a warm, inviting interior with an extraordinary wait staff who are quite pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive.
The menu is more than complete, it can handle the likes and dislikes of even the most discerning sushi/ sashimi fan, but also the sushi novice and those who are not fond of fish at all! They paid attention to our particular needs (extra lemon for the soy sauce, extra dressing on the salad, swap one sashimi piece with another) but most important, the fish is fresh and great quality. Amazing deserts that no one ever expects at a Japanese restaurant!
We wanted a new place where we would be welcomed as regulars and Ko Sushi treats us royally. No need to search further, we found our home.
