the best haircut. I was visiting the city for a while. I thought I would be a good opportunity to get a haircut. So I was looking for a good salon. I found Color Tess Salon. I called to make the appointment. They scheduled my appointment with Antonio. From the moment I walked in the door I felt comfortable and at home. Everyone in the salon was friendly, warm and welcoming.

Antonio gave me consultation. He listened very carefuly. Consequently he gave me a great haircut. Antonio is innovative, concerned and talented stylist.

It was a pleasure going to Color Tess Salon.

Terrible service and terrible experience. I visited Tess Color Hair Salon as a walk in and my initial reaction was that it was - OK. It was not the cleanest looking place but the price that they quoted me was in the ballpark of what I wanted to pay. I sat down, asked again for the price (my stylist quoted me the same that the receptionist did) so I proceeded to get color done. While sitting with the foils in my hair, I was moved about 5 times asked to sit in different places while the stylist worked on a bunch of other clients (she was way overworked). She never even looked at my hair to see how the color was processing. After a while, it seemed as if she spotted me still sitting there with foils in my head (the stylist had definitely forgotten about me) and pointed toward the sinks crowded with people. So, I walked over to the sinks as awkwardly got someones attention to rinse my hair. I then was told to wait another 20 minutes in the chair by the sink while my "stylist" finished her most current client. Finally I got to see my hair in the mirror as it looked as if nothing had been done except a 2 hour shampoo. My hair was the EXACT same as when I walked in. I politely mentioned to the stylist that it looked the same, not much different at all and she was actually being very nice back to me (as if she agreed and was confused why it looked so similar). Then Tess (the owner) came over and asked what the issue was. I politely told her that i was just saying that my hair looked untouched - at which point Tess starts screaming that I's "sooo much blonder and it absolutely looks differently." She went as far as to tell me that I was treating her terribly - woa...my voice was not raised at all and I was being beyond polite. I then just wanted to get out of there, my head half wet and all. I went to pay and she said that will be...and threw out a number $50 more than I had been quoted. I politely asked why and she said "because we used a gloss" - I never asked for any gloss! I work in hospitality and I understand how to treat people - this was the absolute WORST experience dealing with clients that I have ever seen and from the owner of all people. Do not go here. It's a waste of time and money.

Great hair and wonderful service.. I don't agree with review below. Every time I visit Color tess I am always greeted with a smile and always accommodated. Tess is the nicest salon owner! I do my high lights and color here along with weekly blowdrys and have never had a bad experience! I recommend anyone in the neighborhood to give this place a try. Rita is a top notch colorist though everyone there is so professional that I can trust anyone to make my hair look pretty and sleek.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE- RITA AND LAURA ARE EXCELLENT. I just got off the phone with the owner of the salon and I am shocked at how not intune she is to her customers or customer service. I have been going to Color Tess for my cut and color with RIta and I could not be happier with her work- infact so much so that I have refered 5 people.

I have in the past gotten the Brazilian Kertain treatment done at a different salon. last week I went to Color Tess for that and Laura did a fabulous job. However the rest of the experience was so appauling!

I had a 3pm appoint on a Friday. I walked in and it seamed no one was aware of my appointment. Laura was able to do it regardless which I appreciated. However after the 3 hour treatment, I was told by the receptionist that I really wasn't supposed to come in on a Friday and the only reason I was "lucky enough" that they let me stay was because they weren't as busy as usual. This annoyed me slightly but let it go. Then on Sunday I got a call telling me that I was late for my appointment at 3pm. So clearly someone at the salon had screwed up. I still have card with my appointment day and time that was written by the woman who made the appointment for me Friday June 5th 3:00pm..

I called Tess (the owner of the salon) to let her know the mistake and just that I was a little put off by the way the receptionist had approached the conversation about Fridays not allowing me to have the Brazilian treament done.

I will continue to go to Rita for my color only becasue I think she is that good. But I hate to think I am putting money into Tess's pocket because she has no idea how to treat a customer. The people I have refered to that salon wont be bringing their business there anymore unless its for Rita.... I hope Rita goes to a different salon soon!

In this economy they are lucky for every customer, but someone should train that owner in cusomter care.... ASAP...

Great experience. I discovered this salon several years ago when I needed color correction and they were wonderful. I have always had a great experience at this salon. Rita is the professional I've been using and not only is she extremely talented and devoted, she is also a lovely, charming and supremely focused person. I can't recommend this salon enough. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and there is consistently sincere and caring attitude displayed by all who work there!

It was my honor to have done my color by Rita!. I used to went to very expensive salons like Frederick Fekkai or Oscar Blandi. My friend recommended Rita. She goes to her for over 5 years. Her hair always look healthy and has beautiful color. I had cut my budget so I tried Rita. I tell you the true Rita is very good and the salon looks very upskill and beautiful. Staff is professional and my highlighlts and color look better than ever: very healthy, shiny as I expected. Thank you, see you again.

Best Colorist and Stylist. I have been going to Color Tess for over two years and my colorist and stylist is Gloria. I have received more compliments about Gloria's work than I have about any of my previous stylists. Gloria uses color and highlights that are just right for my skin tone; and her styling makes me look and feel younger. All my friends consistently compliment me on the color and the style. Gloria uses very good judgment is deciding what looks good. She is also very flexible and receptive to comments and requests. I recommend Gloria very highly; you are in good hands with her.

Best color salon for redheds!. Color Tess Salon is fantastic. I starting going there while I was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Tess found the perfect shade of strawberry blonde and I was thrilled. Since then, I have seen almost everyone in the salon for my weekly blowout. Everyone is professional and fabulous, but my very favorite is Marina! Marina has a great, warm personality. She is the best at full service whether it is color, cut or even shampoo. Basically, I get compliments every single day on my hair. It is healthy and an incredible shade of red. Red is really hard to do well, so maybe that is why Marina is so good at it. Redheads rule! Visit Tess Color salon for a a fabulous cut or color.

I have been to many of "the best" salons in Manhattan; but now I only go to Color Tess. Marina does an amazing job every time.. I have finally found someone who gives highlights that are worth the time and money. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair since I started seeing Marina. She is meticulous and passionate about her work and always pleasant. The rest of the staff is also attentive and the shampoo is accompanied by a great scalp massage. All this at a reasonable price with no attitude. I love it.

Color Tess is great thanks to Marina. I continue to go to Color Tess thanks mostly to Marina. She is such a good hair stylist and colorist that I always walk out looking like a movie star. On top of that, she has such an amazing way about her, she is so warm and welcoming. She is the only stylist that I have ever gone to that I have looked forward to seeing. She helped me with long term solutions to my damaged hair that had really lost it's gloss and beauty due to damage and using the wrong products. I highly recommend her and her prices are reasonable too.
