Tips for Carmine & Arthur Clothiers

Worst customer service I have ever received ANYWHERE. The first day I went in there I took 4 pairs of pants to be shortened and a jacket to be taken in on the sides - very easy job. From the second I walked in there I was treated like a second-class citizen. The man at the front (whose name is Arthur) was incredibly rude and impatient. He gave the unrelenting impression that unless you look like an executive, he does not think you are worth his time (I should add that I am a young professional and I dress the part).

I was asking questions about my jacket being taken in so that I could be sure that I was communicating effectively about the way I wanted it to fit. Arthur was impatient with all of my questions and incredibly pushy, though his tailor was very nice and answered all of my questions quite thoroughly despite his boss. Then when I asked if I could have these done before the weekend (giving him 3 days to do it, WAY more than the avg. tailor in this area requires), he took a huge huffy I'm-not-doing-you-any-favors attitude with me. And when I asked this, I was rudely informed that I was "trying his patience." Who says that to a customer?!? I told him I needed a particular pair of pants in 3 days so I would have them for the weekend, but instead he did the two easiest pairs first and told me the others wouldnt be ready until after the weekend. He suggested I take them somewhere else, which I did; the other tailor had no problem doing them for the next day.

When I went in today to pick up my clothing, I was again very polite to him. After I paid, I mentioned that I am a very loyal customer to the good businesses I find, and that if it weren't for the way he treated me, I would continue to do business there. I very calmly and politely explained that I did not like the way he treated me and so I would not be back. His response? "Ok, I would be more than happy if you never came back."

Any other tailor in the area will do just as good of a job with a far more pleasant experience.
