As a massage therapist who as of just recently used to work for Stuart Bragdon of Body Healing Massage Therapy, I have a few very important things to say. I feel people must be informed if they are going to an establishment with such a name as Body Healing in the title of their business.

After working for 5 months in what Stuart Bragdon called an "Independent Contracting Position" where he wrongfully treats his fellow massage therapists as employees.. (Making us work sometimes up to 10-11 hour days without getting paid for the time when there were no massages, threatening to take money out of pay for things I never did.) Make a long story short.. After 5 months of being treated unfairly, I decided to ask Stuart Bragdon for a copy of my contract (which his massage therapists he had/has working for him should have had from the moment we signed them) and he deliberately refused to give it to me, all while standing 2 inches away from my face towering down on me. Even when I stepped back, he came even closer. He told me that he would not give me the contract, and threatened me that the contract says he should be paying me less than what I was being paid.

I'm posting this all because Stuart Bragdon is withholding my pay from me for 3 weeks that I worked for him. He is disturbing my livelihood, withholding this money from me has me and my family in a very bad place. I am not able to pay my rent, pay bills, or buy food, I have also had a tragic death in my family, the wake and funeral are being held this weekend 7/13, and 7/14. I will not be able to go because I do not have the money I have rightfully worked very hard for to pay for my flight.

I honestly didn't want to have to resort to posting this about him. But myself, past colleagues, and many clients of Stuart Bragdon have witnessed this dark/cold side of him. As a fellow "Body Healer", I understand that the way you treat people should be the way you would hope to be treated in return. I've sent Stuart Bragdon an email just before I have posted this, informing him of the events that are happening in my life because he is deliberately withholding my pay.

I hope that as a "body healer" he has it in his heart to put his ego and pride aside and do what is legally, and morally right. For all the clients who have been loyal to "Stuart Bragdon" & "Body Healing Massage Therapy".. Many have said there is always someone new working at this establishment. Well, now you know why. Thank you for all who have taken the time out to read this.

A Massage Like No Other, True Therapy. Stuart truly understands human anatomy, and for anyone who has an injury or troublesome issue, that knowledge is imperative to correcting the problem. Being a professional dancer who's job is extremely demanding and rigorous, I got tired of spending money on massages that were more like rub downs, barely scratching the surface. It really is the best massage you will find in NYC, and quite possibly the country, and I send everyone I know who is in need of a massage to Body Healing Massage Therapy.

If you are a dancer, performer, someone who endures a lot of physical activity, or someone in need of some fixing, you need to try this massage.

Best in NYC. This tiny spot on the UES clearly hides a national treasure. Body Healing is run by Stuart, who takes a holistic approach to fixing what ails you. I had been to PT, orthos and other sports massage places and not one of them comes close to providing the expert massage and alignment that Body Healing does. I have been from Bliss to Cornelia, Carapan to the Penninsula and Body Healing comes out head and shoulders above the rest.

Enjoy - you will feel much better and that feeling remains.

THE place for REAL massage work!. If you are looking for REAL massage therapy, forget the day spas, which seem to focus on massage for relaxation, and try Body Healing Massage Therapy. This is intense, serious, massage-focused therapy for sore, troubled, and injured bodies. There are no frills here, just hardcore massage work. The first time I came here, I was looking for relief in my left leg, which had been persistently numb due to a desk job, and my muscles were so intensely worked, that I left in an absolute daze, my face burning. The second time I came, for some work on back spasms, I was more prepared in terms of what to expect, and I was not disappointed. I can now move my head with ease and without fear of throwing my back out. I highly recommend this place for people looking for the real massage deal.
