Boycotting this establishment.
I was shopping in this store today and I had my little dog with me in her bag on wheels. On entering the store, I passed the bag check desk and it was being manned by a young lady who is employed there.
I was browsing around and found three items I was considering purchasing (velcro tape, hair barretts and 4 leaf shaped decorations). I must have been in the store 30 minutes before I decided not to purchase these items and save those purchases for another day and I returned them to where I found them in the store. I then called my husband on my cell phone to check in.
After ending my call, a man ( the manager) came up to me and said very hurridly and rudely "Where are the items you had in your hand, you have to check your bag up front, where are the things you had in your had!?" I replied, I have my dog in this bag and I will not leave her up front without me, see (her head was popped out in plain view and her body filled the bag) "Where are the things you had in your hand?', he asked again in a very accusatory tone. I said, " I changed my mind about buying them and I put them back" "Where did you put them?" , he snapped.
Now mind you, I had been in the store over thirty minutes and he never said a word about me having to check my bag up front all that time; and he saw me prior to this incident because I asked him what the price was for the leaf decorations. It was only after he no longer saw the items in my hand that checking my dog and the bag became an issue.
"Come with me, I'll show you where the items are!" I said, very disgusted with his insinuation that I had stolen the items and put them in my dog's bag. 'You have to check your bag now, then shop!" He snapped again. By now I was very annoyed and told him, " I am not going to spend my money now after the way you have treated me, are you kiddding! I have been shopping in this store for many years and I have brought my dog with me in her bag and have never been asked to check her in at the front. (which I would never do) I will not check her in the front and I will never shop in this store not now or ever".
Would you like to check inside my dog's bag to see if any of your merchandise is in there???" Of course he did not answer me. As all of this was going on, a woman who had just paid for her articles said to me in a loud voice, "He is always very, very rude to customers!" and left.
I was hurt that he insinuated I had stolen or planned to steal something! I realize this is a problem everywhere, but kindness goes a long way when one is trying to get one's point across. He would not give me his name, nor his bosses name ( I told him I was going to lodge a complaint against him) and all of the other employees suddenly had a case of amnesia when I asked them for the address of the store and the owner's name. ( afraid they might lose their job)
Needless to say, I will never set foot inside of that store again and I have many, many friends in Mount Vernon who I will talk to about this and ask them to boycott this store also; they will.
Had he not asked me where I had put the items I had in my hand, insinuating theft, and had "kindly" just asked me to check my bag, I would have told him I cannot leave my dog at the front and I would come back another time without her; then all would have been well.
I am a woman well into my fifties and have never stolen ANYTHING, nor would I and I believe this man's demeanor is anthing but kindly. I know quite a few folks in high places and in this town and his boss will be hearing from me and them. Just thought Mount Vernonites and others would like to know that if you go into that store, pick up something then change your mind and return to its place, you too may be thought of as a potential theif! Thanks for reading my review of this establishment.
