Editorial Review for Spa Butterfly – by Joanna Prisco
In Short
Between the rich patina of dark woods, bamboo-rod floral arrangements and eggshell-colored furnishings, this spa evokes a warm Asian oasis. Estheticians bustle about in white robes, enhancing services with extra touches, such as the heated aromatherapy shoulder pack, exfoliating scrub and habit-forming foot rub that are included in the standard manicure. The lengthy menu of services also boasts everything from Brazilian waxes, eyelash tints and airbrush tanning to seaweed wraps, facials and massages.

I would come to this place sometimes for my lunch break or after work. When we would make reservations, it never seemed to matter to them. We still had to sit there and wait a long time. Also, when a friend asked for her nails to be cut the manicurists refused to do it. Isn't it policy to give the customer what they want?! Also, the past few times I have gone there my nail polish chips within like 2 days. I will never go back to this place, which is so sad. I used to think it was great and I don't know if they have just gotten popular and have stopped worrying about pleasing the customer.

I work right next to the spa, so getting manis and pedis at lunch is very convenient and relaxing. Or at least, it used to be. I made an appointment this Monday for a friend and I to get manicures. When we got to the spa, there weren't enough technicians working, so we had to get our manicures one after the other instead of at the same time. Not a big deal (although annoying, because it meant we were late coming back to work). There was also another woman who had made an appointment, and had been waiting for over 1/2 an hour. The woman who did our manicures rushed through the entire thing. The polish was sloppy and painted on to my cuticles. She also waited until just after she finished painting my nails before she asked me to pay, which meant I had to reach into my purse with semi-wet nails. The manicure was Monday-it was completely gone by Thursday. Not only was it chipping, it was peeling off in long strips. I have been pleased with Spa Butterfly in the past, but if service and quality do not improve, I will certainly take my business elsewhere.
Pros: Affordable Manicures
Cons: You get what you pay for
