What People Are Saying About The Village Pourhouse
Featured Review

With its solid oak bar and gas lamps, the Pourhouse might feel like an old New York tavern--were it not for the many sports-touting flat-screen TVs and a beer catalogue that boasts more than 100 different suds from 20-plus countries. On Thursday through Saturday nights, a DJ blasts rock onto a narrow dance floor as the sports bar vibe gives way to a full-scale party scene. Low-maintenance boozers monitor their own keg at a long, cozy booth dubbed "The Dugout," while luxury-lovers converge in the "Vegas Room," where skylights, red leather banquettes, and a private staff set the mood for deluxe…
Editor's Tips
- Save Money:
- Play the bar's Wii video game system for free every Monday night, or partake in the bi-weekly Wii tournament, where the $10 cover includes an hour of all-you-can-drink Bud Light.
- Happy Hour:
- Bud and Bud Light is just $1 from 5pm to 7pm, and Sauza margaritas, and vodka cocktails (made with Absolut or Level) are two-for-one.
- The Extras:
- The Pourhouse hosts a variety of "beer programs" such as tasting and pairing classes. Call to inquire about throwing a private party, charity event or to land a gig as a guest bartender.
- Food Served:
- A complete menu of meals and snacks--from classic bar fare like wings, nachos and sliders, to more upscale offerings like a plateful of chicken Madeira--is doled out until midnight.

Great sports Bar in East Village
by Athena Chang , Citysearch Contributor
If you went to Georgetown, you should know this is the Hoya Basketball bar. If you don't, you really should feel ashamed and start coming here now!
Not only is Village Pour House always full of crowds watching sports games, but it also offters Trivia nights and other good entertainment. They have about 6 or 7 kinds of beer on tap, bottled beers and other mixed drinks. It has two separate rooms and tons of HDTVs.
In addition, this bar has pretty good quality food for a bar. their wings are good and I remember I ordered their vodka penne once and it is actually good!
I would recommend coming here for any sports games.
- Pros: good sports-watching spot
Passport for Beer
by marisa 17
Ever wonder if beer from another country will taste good? Not sure what country your favorite speciality ale is from. Pick up a beer passport while at the village pourhouse and start enjoying your ride through other countries. The bartenders are pretty knowledgable about the beer that is offered and generally can guide you towards a dark lager or a sweet blueberry ale. Either way, this place can get crowded on a Sunday during football season so be prepared. I have had the best time when I go with friends after work or on a spring afternoon.
- Pros: Space, Tables, Screens
- Cons: Bathrooms
Great Food and Gluten Free Beer!
by Edon79
I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the Village PourHouse carries Redbridge, a Gluten Free Beer. As a life long beer drinker, it was tough to be diagnosed with a Gluten Allergy, which eliminates 99% of beer from your diet. It was great to find that one of my favorite bars in the city carries a beer that I can drink. The food and service have always been great, but the gluten free beer is what will keep the pourhouse my bar of choice.
- Pros: Gluten Free Beer
