STK

A steakhouse with a conscience and sex appeal

  • Meatpacking: Restaurant/Lounge
  • Steak/Seafood/Salads
  • Private Event Rooms

STK redefines the American steakhouse experience, combining the soul of a greenmarket restaurant with the vibrant pulse of a downtown lounge. Executive Chef Todd Mark Miller has created a seasonal menu emphasizing fresh ingredients & local producers, offering New York diners an alternative to traditional steakhouse fare. Located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, STK will bring new life to one of the most energetic areas of Manhattan.

The main dining room will have seating for up to 200 & the upper level will feature private dining suites named for famous burlesque stars, such as "The Tempest Storm," which includes seating for 70, "The Lillie St Cyr," which includes seating for 20, "The Do May," which includes seating for 20) and "The Candy Barr," including seating for 40. These rooms will provide the perfect setting for private parties or corporate and special events.

Editorial Review for STK – by Kathleen Squires

The Scene
Picture windows along the facade show off the pretty crowd like mannequins at neighboring boutiques. Stark black-and-white accents, from faux elephant tusks flanking the bar to the shiny ebony leather lining the lounge, infuse the space with contrast. A live DJ clinches the clubby mood.

The Food
Meat portions, divided into small, medium and large cuts, are all generous; the humbly named "Little T," for example, offers a quality 10-ounce T-bone. A selection of garden salads--like a mache, crab, melon and avocado mix--will appease those concerned with fitting into designer duds, while lightly curried scallops garnished with peas are a seafood standout. Some mains, like the bland short ribs, don't fare as well, though any dish can be saved by the parmesan-truffle fries--a stack of lightly crisped potato rectangles packing salty-earthy power in each bite. A fruit salad punched up with black pepper provides a refreshing but assertive ending.

I was there for my friends birthday. I loved it . The atmosphere was great and a lot of cool people. The food is delicious. The first time i went there i had steak which was really good. The second time i had lobster which was also yummy. Try the French fries they are very yummy too. If you are looking forward to see celebrities deff go to stk. I met Brody Jenner and one of the cast from gossip girls. Its very romantic and i enjoyed it very much.

I acknowledge that when you go to 1) a steakhouse 2) in the meatpacking you have to expect a certain amount of overcharging and overhype, but this place simply takes it to another level. I don't even mind waiting for an hour past our reservation time to be seated - except that a glass of Johnny Walker is $16. The prices don't look too outrageous until you mind the details - instead of the normal 2-3 sides for a table you have to order at most steakhouse, the waiter recommends "at least one per person". Again, I can forgive the prices, except that the steak was awful. If you want a great steak, there are much better places and if you want to go to meatpacking there are at least places that aren't this bad.

Pros: None

Cons: Food, prices
