Editorial Review for Soho Park – by Katie Heffernan
The Scene
The only thing that's missing from this staged park scene is the chirping of mechanical birds. Giant garage windows allow natural light to spill over rows of blonde bench seating, hanging hubcaps and ficus trees planted in oil drums. An overhead marquee menu invites walk-up ordering--and the lunchtime crowd might be better off going this route, given the stunted table service.
The Food
Like an afternoon spent outdoors, you'll find hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages on the grill. The simple, skinny-pattied burger is about what you'd expect from any old snack stand, and its accompanying Belgian spuds are surpassed by a basket of flaky, buttermilk onion rings. More interesting is the Parmesean-Gruyere grilled cheese, stuffed with tomatoes and pesto sauce, or a generous helping of the mild, caramelized onion-topped kielbasa. Most dishes come with dipping sauces: The spicy sambal ketchup and garlic aoli create the most harmonious flavors.

The service is terrible and food is mediocre. I only go because I live nearby and want convenience. They always manage to mess up my orders whether I eat there or get takeout. Definitely check the bill because they have tried to charge me for food I did not order. One time we told them we did not order a salad and hamburger they brought out but they left the charges on the bill. Luckily we caught it and had them remove it. Management does not seem to care that the service is horrible while the waiters/waitresses are indifferent. Hard to believe they will be in business much longer. Just really bad management at this place. If you go you will find out how badly its run. Food is acceptable but does not make up for the horrible treatment you will experience.
Pros: Reasonable Prices
Cons: Terrible service and attitude

This place is awful. We ordered mojitos at about 8pm or so. At 830am, the manager was VERY RUDE and wanted to kick us out of the restaurant. Hello??? Why even let us order when they planned to close so early??? That manager should be fired. Or, if he owns the restaurant, should go back to service school. Avoid by all means. Too bad, the outdoor area is nice.
