What People Are Saying About R Bar

"R Bar is a no-attitude, no-pretentions spot with a glam rock bar feel, dig the crystal chandeliers, blood red walls, and 3-D holographic images of Sin City-ish leather-clad models over the bar to inspire your evening. Go for the real stuff with their impressive collection of whiskeys and bourbons (apparently the Basil Hayden's 8 Years will make your night go down as hard as early Johnny Cash).
But the sexy back room is where it will be at, with a separate bar, blown up black-and-whites of Mick Jagger in a bathtub, and (in a move deserving of some accolade) underlit tables with tall brass poles...we are excited about the possibilities of what might happen here.
And most importantly....your ears may finally be relieved of the latest Hilton or Timberlake "jam" as DJs set things right with some classic rock and roll, old school hip hop, and rare groove." URBAN DADDY

In Short
Black pleather, cherry red, rock and roll--what's new? This Bowery bar may be mimicking the trends, but some details are worth noting. Namely, its spaciousness: The bar's deep and wide enough to fit a loud, looking-for-a-hook-up crowd. Mood-setting holograms of hot women hang from a crushed velvet wall, and the long bar shells out rock-themed cocktails. When it's not closed for private parties, a banquette-lined rear room boasts black-and-whites of Blondie and Jagger, and four underlit stripper poles.

I celebrated my birthday here back in January and silly me waited until the week before to call and book a table. (No charge/bottle service required to reserve a table!) The manager informed me that they were all booked up with parties for that Saturday night but since I had my heart set on having my party at R Bar she went out of her way and set up a special private area for my party. The night ended up being incredible...it was my first time there as well as the first time for many of my friends and we all had a fantastic time. The decor in this place is so rockin' and unlike any other Manhattan bars that I've been to...its like a rock and roll brothel. The front room is large with couches and a really long bar (with the best bartenders!) and toward the back is a second room with stripper poles and another bar. The artwork consists of beautiful ladies posing with guitars, Blondie, and Mick Jagger to name a few. I've gone back a few times since my party and its always been a really great time...from the drinks, to the staff, to the crowd, to the music I give this place an A++.

I don't no why everyone is saying that the bouncers are lame. They are actually the best people at the place!!! Def a place to go to dance the night away with your girlfriends. Guy girl ratio is like 3:1! Niiiice

I was planning my birthday party at R Bar, and it turned into one hot mess. They told me that for my party, my friends could say my name at the door and would not have a problem getting in, without waiting on line. Well, that turned out to be a total lie, and my friends were waiting outside in the freezing cold for atleast a half hour just to get in to my RESERVED area in the back. I think they must have let everyone in the reserved party area, because it was totally packed and I couldn't find my friends for my own party. Also, I was supposed to get a free bottle of champagne (due to over booking of the party room by the party planner) and I never got one. When I was looking for the manager to get my bottle, the bouncers just brushed me off. If you plan on having a party here, tell everyone to get there early, otherwise your party at R Bar will be OUTSIDE.
