When my hot water heater stopped
working I called several repair companies and Martin Masters were the first to come. This made me quite happy. Nobody wants to be without hot water at the end of December.
The service person stated that he will perform the diagnostics and I am to pay $179.13 + tax for this, which I did not like, but found tolerable. The result of the diagnostics was “bad igniter”. The part was ordered over-night ($30 shipping) and the service person left.
Almost immediately after he left I noticed that suddenly we do have hot water. I inspected the heater and found it working. Happy as I was I decided to inspect it again an hour later and this inspection revealed that the heater had a leak. With time the leak was becoming more and more evident and I found the heater full of water inside.
I called the Martin “Masters”, told them the story and asked if they consider the results of their “diagnostics” to be wrong. “My water heater is working after all with the old igniter,” I said. The response was that if my water heater is leaking I need to contact the manufacturer and manufacturer will send me a replacement heater (it is still on warranty). I pointed that the diagnostics did not mention any leaks and the leaking started just after the service person had left. “Is this a coincidence?” I asked. The person on the other side of the line responded that he does not believe in coincidences and … if my water heater is leaking I need to contact the manufacturer and manufacturer will send me a replacement heater. Just for the sake of it I asked, “and who will install it?” and received the answer that they will be glad to, for standard installation fee of $900… Bottom line – run away!!!
Always good service!!!. I have always had good service from Martin Masters Plumbing, Heating & Air. They are prompt and call to confirm with good follow up. The office staff and the tech are pleasant and courteous. They have been my plumber since 1999. Doug C.

When my home flooded recently I had to replace a hot water heater and furnace. I called Martin Masters to replace the hot water heater and was charged $1500. I did not understand this at the time, and the plumber assured me that this price was standard, but this amount was so much high that I needed to fax a copy of the cancelled check to my insurance company for them to even believe it.
At the same time, they quoted my furnace replacement at $6000 for a peerless mi-05, which I discovred online is a $1300 furnace. When I called to very politely ask why the labor was so high (seriously, I am very well mannered and was extremely polite), the owner literally started yelling at me and asked if I had any idea what it costs to run a business. I was absolutely shocked at his absurd and rude response and I subsequently had a different plumber install the exact same furnace for $3000.
You have been warned.
What a Great Bunch of Guys! Just Fantastic!. Just a note to let you know just how happy we were in dealing with you & your company. The fact alone that you answered our distress call says something about your company. Your response time was great-especially during the freeze-up which occurred on 2/2/11. Not to mention your staff's (Dan & crew).Dan is a definite asset to you & your company. Not only is he a knowledgeable, conscientious man, he is also a personable, great guy. over priced/ incomplete job. Relatives must have written the other reviews. Required sewer service. Technician worked less than 15 minutes-small snake in kitchen drain-never snaked basement pipes to sewer line. $318.17 for 15 min. work-tech spent more time texting than working. Mr. Masters did not respond to my call at 4 pm on a Friday-but finally responded after a written letter was sent. Arrogant, over-priced, incomplete job! BBB is a bigger joke. Would take him to court, but it would cost me more in salary lost than I would get.
Just a nice company.
Needed a plumber for a emengency at my moms home in North Haledon . Mom is 93 and afraid that people will take advantage of her . I called and spoke with Martin who put my concerns aside , sent a plumber who was also very professional , fixed the problem and at a very fair price.

A Company that Goes Above and Beyond. This company showed that they do a job well done. We are extremely happy with the way our new bathroom turned out. We have been enjoying this welcomed addition to our home. What we really appreciate is the professional organization they have and the way the team managed the project. Everyone was always curteous, helpful and accommodating with our hectic schedules. Recently I had an opportunity to watch them in action when our new baseboard heating system they installed developed a leak. When I called the office and spoke with the staff there they remembered me and was very anxious to help. The next day the technician arrived 8:30 am (as scheduled) and made the necessary repairs to fix the problem, and since the problem was a faulty solder joint, they covered the entire repair under warranty. This kind of reaction and service must be what gains Martin Masters Plumbing, Heating & Air the reputation that they deserve. We will be referring them to our friends as the need arises.
Very Professional and Trusting Company. From My experience with Martin Masters Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning I have found that they run their company in a very professional manner. In the past two years living in Oakland, N.J. we've had approximately four service calls with the company and have met four of their technicians. Everyone always arrives on time with a company uniform on and there never has been a call-back to redo the work that has been done. I also have to commend the office support staff for their professionalism as well. Everyone is extremely polite and well informed. I will always use Martin Masters Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning everytime we have a concern.
