Excellent Food. Excellent food, wonderful service and priced just right.

If you love authentic North Indian food filled with all the proper spices and full of flavor then this is the place for you. My favorites are Dal Makhani, Biryani and hot Tandoori Chicken. I have always catered from Tandoori Chef for all my events ever since I discovered this restaurant.

Jersey's Best Indian Food...Yeah I said it.... I started eating Indian food about 10 years ago and Tandoori has, hands down, the best Indian Food in Jersey..I have eaten at over 50 different Jersey Indian eateries and trust me the food is really good here...

Great food!. So we usually go to the sister restaurant - Madras Bistro - which is right next door. It's pretty much the same menu as Tandoori Chef, but only the vegetarian part. Everything on the menu in MB is available at TC. My parents dont really like the smell of meat and all, so we try to go all veg restaurants. While MB and TC share a kitchen, it feels like a separate restaurant. I'm told they keep utensils separate for the Veg dishes, but I still have to confirm that.

Madras Bistro is very casual and simple, with great food. Their indo-chinese is fantastic, and the dosas are amazing. They have this red chutney that they give along with the dosa - sooo good. Totally brings out the flavor of the masala dosa. And the "masala" in the masala dosa was perfect.

If you want a proper restaurant feel with veg and non veg options, TC is better. MB is not fancy at all, but it's a nice, clean place, and the food is fantastic. To me, that's what counts. I've tried the north indian, south indian, and indo-chinese and everything I've ordered was great. I don't even LIKE sambhar much, but their's was really good.

Madras Bistro/ Tandoori Chef has become my family's # 1 indian restaurant option around. And it's not even expensive!

GUD FOOD WITH CONFUSED STAFF. Poor service......was very turned off by the service, or lack thereof. We felt invisible, even though the place was swarming with employees. There was no coordination between the employees. A restaurant at this price level should be attentive to detail -- I think one employee is enough to take care of a table....too many employees popping up at the table caused disturbance -and finally the servers could not even remember who ordered what at our table......entrees had the perfect combination of portion, height and taste...used to love tandoori items at tis place......gud but not great taste in tandoori appetizers as it used to be before.... I am guessing the chef left... ..

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the negative experience you described in your review. In order to provide better service to our customers, we have added new staff members who are currently under training. However, our chefs have remained unchanged for the past five years. We put significant effort in preparing our dishes and in training our employees to provide a wonderful dining experience. I hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you again so we can regain your trust and surpass your expectations.

Thank you.

Tandoori Chef. You have to go here, their food is AMAZING!!! I have had my share of Indian Cuisine, but at Tandoori Chef, the staff are professional and polite, the food is always fresh and nothing is overpriced. I find myself eating something from there atleast once a week, (usually their Na'an and Paneer). I am completely addicted. I have finally found my happy place! Keep up the great work!! :-)

Most authentic Indian food in Northern NJ. We love eating out and are always looking for restaurants serving authentic food.

Tandoori Chef on Main Street in Hackensack, NJ is a hidden gem. After a long time, we found ourselves wanting to go to an Indian restaurant almost every week!

If you ever crave for fresh naan and home-made "maa ki dal", go to Tandoori Chef. Very friendly staff, good service and the best Indian food I have had in Northern NJ at very reasonable prices.

Check this review if u wanna visit this place. Hi I am saravan.

we love the food at this place...specially tandoori items.

Almost every week we order food from here.

But Yesterday when we ordered the food , For the first time we had a problem with the spices..... it had very less salt and the food was extremly mild.....which we dont like at all.

We ordered biryani for the first time and it had bellpepers in that which we hate to eat.we went back to return the food.

The worst part has started now........The manager working over there was such a stu........(I dont want to fill it completly) that He was unable to talk or communicate.

Instead of convincing us, he called a gal who was working there and asked her to talk with us.

Oh My God! It was such a funny situation.

The waitress spoke with manners and returned our money back.

Guys food is good here........along with food u can get gud entertainment too..........

Great place for quality Indian food. I had been to Tandoori Chef last week with my friends. The combination seems to be working out quite nicely. They got the energy and attention to offer quality food. Together they've created a restaurant that isn't going to set the world on fire creatively but delivers delicious food at an affordable price in a smart setting.

Admittedly, at first glance, the restaurant seemed very pleasant with vibrant colors and with familiar items like Achari Mushroom, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Biryani, Lamd Vindaloo, Bread Basket and Mango Lassi etc. marching down and hitting all the sweet spots with best-loved dishes. But it's the execution of the dishes that's telling, the way they go together, making the balance and finesse. Lastly waiters and waitress are very friendly.

Total disappointment. Management has poor and unprofessional service; not responsive. There are many upscale competitive indian restaurants that provide value for your money. and very well aware of high level customer service. It seemed the service at this place does not even come close to some of the average restaurants in the area. Freinds, trust me on this , please take my word and don't visit this restaurant... If you do, you will be disappointed very much.
