“The staff was friendly, but the service was quite slow even though we went really early and the place was empty.”
worst way to spend your friday night. I visited this place 2 weeks ago . I HONESTLY believe this must be the worst restaurant/lounge in nyc. The food was reheated from who knows when, and the drinks were definatly watered down. The music didnt match the decor . My girlfriend and I spent about an hour there on a friday night and we were the only customers there,it felt really awkward. I feel sorry for the staff who were polite and the only bright spot . Unless there is some laundering going on they'll be walking the unemployment line real soon.
Romantic late night dining. Great place to plan special occasions. Planned a wedding anniversary and service was prompt, the food was great and it was something different to do with close friends and family. I'll recommend all who want to eat family style and do it at an affordable price are in for a treat.
NYC=Miami. My first time in NYC from Miami and I was seriously impressed by this place. Our lounges in the sunny state are great and this place is added to fine dining/lounging spots. Def returning on my next visit
Avoid the Overrated Clubs and visit !!. My five star rating says it all. one of the trendiest places in the area. My friends tried to go to the overrated places in the area like Marquee and Stereo but ended up coming back. The only place around where u can eat and stay for the lounge and actually have a good time.....thumbs up guys!!
Best Spot in the Area!!. I went to Medina last week and it had to be one of the best times I've had in a while. The food was amazing (authentic Moroccan food for a change) the servers were hospitable and on point which is what I expected by their fabulous decor. After dinner around 11pm a really hip crowd arrived for cocktails and hookah. We ended up staying till closing time just because of those Mango Mojitos!! Def a trendy spot to go to if you can't get into the local clubs or bars!
Good overall. I Went out last Friday night with a bunch of friends, the food was excellent, ,shrimp and lamb chops are something to lick your fingers for, drinks were a little watered down. This is the 5th time I go there, music was mediocre, I guess they changed their DJ, the previous guy was rocking the place with latin/arabic/today's music which makes this place stand for its theme. The staff was very friendly and provided a top notch service.
Very small space with water down drinks.
I organized a birthday party for my wife with about 20 people. The manager Aziz was very hospitable in helping me get organized, setup a guest list, etc... Once we arrived, I was taken back to see how tiny this place is. Anyway, we had a great time but it was mainly due to my group being really in a party mood. I will rate Medina in the following way:
Ambiance: OK. Nice but a very small place
Food: Decent. Lamb Chops was excellent.
Drinks: We were ripped off. We drank a lot and did a lot of tequila shots. We were charged for Petrone and I saw the bartender pour their house white brand and charged us $12 per shout. Also, on numerous occassions we kept telling our hostess that the drinks were watered down. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED ON THIS FRONT.
Service: Excellent. We were extremely happy with our hostess who served us drinks but then again we were overcharged for the drinks and I'm not sure if it's her fault or the managers.
Music: The Medina DJ was horrible and playing oldies (donna summer, michael jackson). He didn't have any meditterean music. I had to bring in my CD from the car and had to get the place going. I kept telling them that no one is dancing and they didn't seem to care. Once we played our CD (kudos for them for playing the music), people were dancing. This was not just our group but others groups in the lounge.
Overall: I wouldn't recommend this place to large groups that want a partying lounge experience like Kush Lounge. If you want to mellow out and relax then Medina is fine.
Medina is the spot!. Been to Medina a handful of times since it reopened. At every occasion the staff, the food and atmosphere exceeded my expectations! I have hosted 2 large parties there, of atleast 15 people or more and the owner and manager are EXTREMLY accomodating and dynamic to customize your menu and event to make it a memorable experience. The appetizers ( especially their pita bread served with hummas and babaganosh) and entrees (try the shrimp skewers with saffran) are exquisite and even their salads are tasty! And this is coming from picky Italians who particularily take their food, portion size and service very serious! The service is expedious and they do not know what to do for you next plus the prices are reasonable. If you do have a large group, obviously call prior. The DJ comes in later in the evening and he rocks as well! I recommend Medina for an intimate date or a large group without hesitation, I am actually planning my 3rd event there!
Great hot spot. Very nice place to hang out on a weekend night. Music and vibe are awesome and food is delicious as well. Outdoor garden is very romantic and seductive which makes it a prime destination for couples or dates. Service was excellent and very friendly. Definitely the place to be if you want to escape from Spirit - Crobar - Quo triangle for a while. Recommended!
Nice Addition to the Neighborhood. The thing I liked the best about this place was that most of the food had real flavor and wasn't timidly spiced. (We had fish and chicken kabob). The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the houmous - it was just okay and I expected better. (Once you've had great houmous, the mediocre stuff bores you). The staff was friendly, but the service was quite slow even though we went really early and the place was empty. The seating is not super comfortable, but the decor is fun. The Moroccan wine that I tried was quite nice. Overall a worthy addition to the neighborhood. Also, don't be scared away by the hipster reputation. I took my 86-year-old aunt and she liked it and the staff was quite nice to us even though we weren't the usual trendy customers.
