Karaoke Night Fabulous.
Talented 20-something striving singers, dancers and actors have made this Karaoke Night outstanding.
Like RENT in real life.
It was fun watching the future of Broadway partying and singing their hearts out.
The stairs are steep, and the bar seems to be somewhat an afterthought in this modern theatre building's lower level, but the talented friendly people make up for the inconvenient location.
The place was crowded and lively but not packed like sardines.
The nights I was there, the singers ranged from pretty darn good to amazing. A couple of them, if they become famous I won't be surprised.
They were all extremely supportive of my 82 year old Karaoke freak mother, and made her feel loved.
Our host, Patrick, was a talented singer himself.
It was a nest for the futures stars.
I would recommend it for anyone looking to uncover real talent.
Probably more crowded during theater hours, still it can be fun anytime.
Other drink clubbers through it looked like a theater bar, where people go to have drinks before shows or during intermission. When there is not show in the theater, it's only the regulars. While not exactly a gay bar, the place ranks as a 2 and a half dollar bill. Thursday night is Karaoke night. the hostess was
a real song belter. Great Janis in the making. Some "singers" were so bad that they crossed the line from Karaoke to Comedy. Tucked away in the basement of a theater, the place is hard to find. But if you pass by on a Thursday night, it's worth a drink. -- Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers
The name eponymous with New York happenings gets a laid-back home base of its own..
In Short
Carved into the underbelly of the New World Stages Theater, this hidden refuge escapes the fate of other over-flooded Midtown bars. Groups of avant garde hipsters gather after work, while theatergoers gush over cocktails post-show. A multihued logo of the namesake publication (the only vestige of self-promotion around) adds a splash of color to otherwise muted tones, including dark slate walls and a steel bar that lends an air of modernity.
