“Good food, Worst service ever”
Loud music and great ribs. While the food was pretty good - fried dumplings light as air and fall off the bone 5 spice ribs - the less than fabulous service and extremely loud music detracted from the experience. I'd give it a 2nd try with hopes that the kinks are ironed out and the volume gets turned down.
for every bad review there are ten good ones. I guess it's probably understandable that people who have crappy service are more likely to write a review than those who don't... but i couldn't stand the bad rap mekong was getting so i had to put my two cents in. i love this place! i've been going to mekong and never had bad service. great atmosphere, nice outdoor seating, great location...
Good food, Worst service ever.
I went to Mekong with 2 friends, for the 1st time since it moved from Prince Street.
We were still deciding what to order for dinner when the waiter came by, and my friend wanted to order an appetizer and cocktail. The waiter told her "No, let's get it all done in one shot." and wouldn't take her order until we were all ready!
After the bill came the waiter came by to pick it up before we'd even looked at it. When he came back, we were just counting money, and he said, "come on, I accommodated you guys and I am trying to turn tables over. You can't just sit here." We even had 2 half-full beer bottles on the table!
Now we didn't dilly dally, and weren't nursing our drinks. We literally had just finished eating and he's saying he doesn't have time for us. And there was no one waiting for tables. By "accommodating" us, he apparently meant our request to sit outside at one of the empty tables.
If he had allowed us any time, we would have gotten more drinks, and maybe more appetizers. He may have also left us wanting to return, which none of us ever will.
Imagine being "accommodated" by someone allowing you to pay them money for your food, and having the nerve to actually sit at the table, and drink, and talk to friends! Some might call that eating out.
Best Vietnamese Restaurant Bar. An adventuresome menu distinguishes this simple Vietnamese eatery. Try the crispy shrimp roll, calamari, and crab / seafood soup is another winner. The restaurant's decor seems to date from the 1950s, anticipate a romantic dinner experience, a very good Vietnamese dining experience. A perfect place for brunch as well. A full bar with ample selection from beers, wines and cocktail drinks.
