Tips for Queen Jane Day Spa

coming back!. ridiculously good for ridiculously little (manhattan) money. Got massage and facial on Groupon on a whim, and almost missed the expiration date as I am very skeptical of those sales. it made my day. The owner did the right thing by hiring exclusively Asian staff. People are extremely friendly, professional, classy, no slacking, no bs, no talking, no getting into your business. Every minute spent was put to use - no walking out while you have a mask on, no slacking while you have steam on.

the massage was very relaxing and just felt right; the facial was also great. the only problem - i felt a bit chill towards the end, but that might be due to the fact that i became very relaxed after 2 hours.

i bought another package on the spot.

Rude, Rude, Rude. I had the worst experience at this spa ever. The receptionist is extremely rude and unaccommodating. Because of a water main break in the city there were no subways running. I called to explain that I couldn't get there and they told me that wasn't their problem and that there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. Seriously! They charged me anyway. The receptionist was like a broken record, "that's our policy, that's our policy...". I mean talk about inflexible.

WORST MASSAGE EVER. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the massage services at this day spa to my family and friends.

we were on vacation/holiday in New York a few weeks ago (May 2011) and my husband suprised me with a Mother's Day spa special at Queen Jane Day

Spa. I had a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE and EXCRUCIATING experience, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND QUEEN JANE day spa to ANYONE who wants to be pampered.

The special entitled me to the "swedish massage" and manicure and pedicure for $119 + taxes - not exactly a bargain. However, it was a gift from my husband and I was ready to be pampered.

The "Swedish massage" as demonstrated by the massage therapist was a "superficial" massage as she explained to me - barely touched my skin. She

was desperately trying to upsell the "deep tissue massage" for "only $10 more". I chose the upgrade option as I needed a "real" massage.

This therapist is the most useless therapist I have ever had - when using the hot towels to clean me, she treated me like I was a child being scrubbed, with little care to my comfort level. She threw the towels on me and was so rough I almost yelled out in pain.

The massage itself was even more excruciating and horrific. She had no idea how to give a massage. I had considered either asking for another therapist, or just leaving at that point. I didn't want to be rude so I did neither but endured the AGONY of her touch.

She then proceeded to ask me am I wearing makeup. I told her "yes". she then asked me how a I feeling. Not really sure what she was leading, I told her "fine I guess". She then said "in that case I won't give you a head massage". Well I was speechless after that.

Her techniques are staccaoto and inconsistent. Her mannerism - that's another kettle of fish all together.

While doing my nails, the girls asked me how it was. I was so upset I told them the truth. they were sympathetic towards my experience, and advised that I send an email to the manager/owner regarding my experience as they thought it was unacceptable as well.

In the end I didn't send the email as I was too upset, but my husband did contact Margie to express his isappointment as he had specifically bought it as a gift for me. This is the WORST day spa and massage I have ever had.Not to mention Margie (the manager or owner) couldn't even be bothered to respond to my husband's email to advise how disappointed he was - particuarly that he bought it for me to be pampered and looked after.

WORST DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE EVER. I rarely write a review, but after this experience, I am seriously surprised to see this spa so highly rated. I bought massages for my husband and I off of Groupon, a discount site, after checking the ratings. I guess that I should have taken the discount offer as a warning. When we got there they asked us if we wanted to pay $10 extra a person to 'upgrade' to the deep tissue massage. Then they asked us if we wanted to pay another $10 to 'upgrade' to the couples room. We took the bait, and I have never felt like more of a sucker. I have had massages all over the city, and this is the first time I actually could not wait for the massage to END. If my husband had not been in the couples room with me, I would have honestly stopped the massage and walked out. I was hopeful he was having a better experience, but when it was over and I asked him how it was, his response was 'eh.' I felt awful that I wasted so much money and time on this place. Even paying the discounted price, plus an extra $40 for the upgrade and taxes, felt like a complete rip-off. I complained to the manager (which I never, ever do), and she said that they made a note of the who massaged me so that I wouldn't get her again if and when I came back. Not any comfort considering I would never, ever go back to this place. I would not be surprised to learn that my masseuse had never even been to massage school. She was honestly that awful. If you haven't been suckered into a Groupon, don't waste your money or take a chance on this place. Sooooo many better spas in the city,

One of my new favorite spas. I decided to partake in Queen Jane's Spa Week promotion that extended all month (they have regular monthly promotions for $100). I partook in the cucumber facial and Swedish massage.

When I arrived the receptionist was kind enough to escort me to a changing room where I could put my belongings in a locker and change into a robe, wraparound towel, and sanitized slipper (nice, not flimsy). From there I went to the relaxation room to meet my masseuse, Anna. Anna started with the facial and was very kind and accomodating. She also did my massage and was gentle, yet firm getting rid of the tension throughout my shoulders and upper back. Afterwards I was asked to meet her in the relaxation room where I was met with a small bowl of fresh fruit and a cup of water. She urged me to sit down in one of their massage chairs (massage for the back and legs/calves) and take my time before getting ready to go.

I'm very used to spas being friendly but also ushering you out after treatment is complete so it was nice to have a space to truly relax after a treatment and mentally prepare yourself before re-entering the real world. Services were great as were the prices and professional and kind treatment from the staff that evening. Strongly encourage others to try this place out.

Very Rude. So I walk into this place with the intention on viewing the facility in an effort to have a little Spa Party. As soon as I walk in I explain this to the receptionist and the woman sitting next to her (who was on her cell phone) says SHHHHHHHHHHHHH, really loudly and nasty. Then she says "Don't talk so loud." I explained what I needed inturn the receptionist explained to "JANE." She stands up and says if you want to see the facilities you need to show up before 12 everyday.

Really good spa. I went to QJDS for a couple massage with my hubby. The first time either of us was getting one. We opted for the swedish massage and it was wonderful.

An excellent expierence, the atmosphere was wonderful. I really loved it, I will be going back very soon

Best Relaxing and Cleansing Facial. I have to say this is the best facial I ever had. Nadine was my facialist and she is so sweet, polite. She is also very knowledgable and guided me into taking better care of my skin and not being pushy about buying products but rather using the right products for my skin. She really makes you feel special and makes sure your skind is glowing. She has amazing hands and I definitely fell asleep to be awakened to a much lighter and cleaner, glowing face. After my facial , Nadine took me to the relaxing room where I sat in the most comfortable massage chair and she gave me a fruit bowl. The spa is very pretty. You enter the bulding and go downstairs to a world of heaven. I definitely recommend if you never had a facial before to have it with Nadine.. you will not break out and you will glow!

I love this spa!. I found Queen Jane through Spafinder and tried it out with my gift certificate. I am always weary of new salons/spas, but I am so glad that I found this place! Right from the very beginning, I was very impressed with the service, the cleanliness, and the quality of my facial. This spa is a relaxing, calming oasis hidden in the basement of a big office building. I have done the couples package, which was extremely romantic and wonderful, and I see Joyce for my facials. She is just the best!

Great services but cold welcome.. I was referred by a co-worker that I should try this spa. Our office is only 2 blocks a way and she said I should really treat myself. The space was beautiful and the treatments were as good as my co-worker described. However the reception was not very welcoming and was somewhat cold. If I hadn?t gotten such a great referral I would have walked out from feeling uncomfortable. With so many places in NY I am not sure if I will be going back.
