In Short
Unflinching--though very polite--doormen guard the stairwell leading to three thimble-sized parlors with all the accoutrements of a proper speakeasy: low-slung vintage furniture, vinyl records on rotation and night creatures sipping rarefied cocktails like Negroni or Pimms. Oil paintings and a sign urging patrons to speak low complete the hush-hush scene. In the back, dancers sway to the mostly rock sets spun by a nearby DJ (sometimes, co-owner Paul Sevigny himself) and stare at each other's reflections in the mirrored walls.

If you're a Hipster in the know then this is your new Mecca. Dark, dingy, undergournd...everything a hipster secretly craves for. The music jumps from The Killers to The Gorillazs and from Abba to Snoop Dogg. A mix of unusual club songs keeps the tiny dance floor jumping. Guys: Bring a pretty girl and go early if you you're not in the "know". Ladies: have fun with it.

Co-owner Paul Sevigny is actress Chloe's brother.
Food Served:
Allegedly, Beatrice Inn does serve food. But we didn't spy anyone eating on our last visit.
When to Go:
Owners say that the schedule changes weekly. So if you're not invited to one of the umpteen "private parties," try swinging by early to see if you can charm your way in.
