What People Are Saying About Wined Up Wine Bar

In Short – This wine bar's name is more of a play on its upstairs location than an indication of its mood. The tension typical of tight Manhattan is nonexistent in the lofty room, where gauzy ivory drapes frame a floor-to-ceiling window, and the sleek, modern aesthetic is far from severe. The mellowness extends to the all-budget boutique winery list--and the patrons, mostly in their 30s, are even free to take down bottles from the bar's striking 100-foot wall of wine and bring them to their tables.
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- The establishment uses stemless wine glasses.
- The Extras:
- The bar shares owners with, and is perched above, whimsical restaurant Punch.
- On the Menu:
- The 150 international bottles start low at $18 and top off at $250. Fun menu groupings include "Drinking a lot, alone?"--and if you are, there's also a full bar.
- Food Served:
- You'll find truffled blue crab fritters, white chocolate fondue, cured meats and cheeses on the reasonably priced (mostly $10 and under) small plates menu.

My family and I dined at Wined Up and had a terrific meal that appealed to all members of the family. My daughter was quick to point out that the desserts were amazing, with her particular favorite being the chocolate fondue. My son enjoyed sampling from a variety of the appetizers, particularly favoring a delicious pizza with caramelized onions and goat cheese. My wife and I loved the vast wine selection displayed very creatively with grapevine lattice work supporting glass shelves spanning an entire wall. The staff was courteous and accommodating and we throughly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend it. We'll be back.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Location, Wine
- Cons: none
Great Wine LIst, Great Food for Wine

I've lived and worked in Italy over several years so I get food for wine and wine for food. On a recent Thursday night at Wined Up I started at the bar where the bartender expertly guided me through the wines by the glass selection. (It's extensive and has a broad offering of tastes and prices) We then moved to a table in the packed dining area. I wasn't even aware that you can order from a 'dinner menu' but the server told us about the specials and the off the list wine pairings. It seems like their chef makes his food to go with the wine. Being that we were a bunch of people we were able to order a lot of dishes and try different wines with those dishes. Some standouts were a mackarel dish, a lobster salad with lychees, a scallop dish, and a flatiron sirloin. Some wines we drank, a Spanish Sauvignon, a Teroldego (never heard of it), an Argentine Malbec blend, and a Chilean cab. All around $50 or so. The specials are average prices nothing ridiculous considering the quality. Service was pretty good and there was particular care given to pairing the wines with our food. Really cool vibe, and cool decor. Apparently there's a champagne tasting brunch on the weekends. The place must look great when it's full of sun as there are two huge sky lights. I'll be back!
- Pros: Great food and wine. Service attentive and educated.
- Cons: Busy. waited for a table. no reservations.
Was a great place until they raised all their prices...

I have been coming here since this place opened, the prices were great and servers very helpful. We went here the other night and had such a disappointing experience. The bottles had all gone up in price at least $10 per bottle, so that there were only a couple of bottles under $40. When we asked our (extremely pretentious) waiter to recommend a bottle in the $30 range, he told us that wines in that price range were all "sugar bombs" - I'm sorry, when did a $38 bottle of wine become cheap? The menu prices have all gone up too, we were charged higher prices than they had on their menus as well.
This place used to stand out for its great prices and nice waiters......too bad. I won't be going back again.
- Pros: Nice space, close to Union Square
- Cons: Overpriced, rude waiter
Good wine and food

I took a date here last night and had a very nice time. The wine was great and not over-priced. We shared fondue and a few other small plates, which were all excellent. There was a large party sitting next to us, which made it hard to have an intimate conversation, but the food and wine made up for it.
- Pros: good wine, great food
- Cons: can get crowded/loud
My new favorite wine bar!

I went here last weekend with a group of girlfriends and we had a BLAST! The wine list was so extensive, we didn't have a clue what to order. We explained to our server what we liked in wine (All of us had different preferences) and she picked the wines out for us. She did an amazing job as we all really loved her selections. We did the wine flights which are 3 wines for $15. They are decent size tastings a well! Then we ordered some tapas and a few bottles of wine! Our bill for 8 of us was $240! Not bad for such a great place! I am looking forward to going back really soon!
- Pros: Non pretentious, trendy atmosphere...I could go on
- Cons: Not a thing! Hope it stays that way!
