Editorial Review for Rebel – by Leah Hochbaum
In Short
The latest from Webster Hall-owner Steve Ballinger, this enormous, three-floor venue books some impressive acts and lands some of the city's biggest parties. Its five distinct areas each have moods of their own. Rock-lovers can mosh to major bands and up-and-comers in the red-and-black performance hall; a disco-ball dance floor and DJ room draws the let-loose-and-groove group; the upstairs lounge lures singles with velvet ropes and toned-down tunes; and those who'd rather watch it all go down can lounge on the mezzanine level.

my sister chose this place for me and my twin brother to celebrate our 21st bday with a group of friends.we were told that we would be free before 12 am but if we made it there after 12 that wed have to pay only 10. well we got there at 12.03 am and were told to pay 20 bucks to get in! i was annoyed but decided not to stress it. the music was great! good hip-hop,reggae, r&b, etc, alllll night. the bartender was soooo nice. i was very disturbed by how high the prices were for the drinks (9.50 for a baybreeze!) but decided not to stress it. besides, my friends were buying me the drinks lol. i would definitly recommend this place to others. the bouncer was even nice and u dont see that often. my only complaint would be that the venue tried to make it seem like they had more to offer than they did. i was offered a free bottle of champagne over the phone for my bday but didnt see one at all. and i didnt like that i was played into paying 20 bucks to get it but honestly, it was 20 dollars well spent :-)
Pros: easy to find from penn, great crowd, bouncer and bartenders. very nice
Cons: being told one price then paying another once i got there

Wow, where do I start about this club. I went on a Sunday after the Dominican Day Parade I took a flayers and it read "Foam party with performances by Marcy place and Mr.Vegas". I didn't know how Marcy Place was but I did know who Mr. Vegas was so I went. At the top of the steps you are greeted by security guards that are jail house rude. They tell you to basically strip, I took of my shoes, shirt, fitted, and everything out of my pockets. They took my hat and the due rag and told me I could pick it up after the party but if it got lost or stolen they are NOT reliable for it What type of non-scene is that? I agree to the terms and kept it moving. It was 12.30am when we got in and NO ONE was there the place was dead until 1.30 -2:00am and from there is was a sausage fest, there was like one girl for every 10 guys at the club, No foam and No Mr. Vegas. On top of all That the downstairs bathroom smells like garbage because the an doesn't work. The club overall Look beautiful nice scene coaches, lounge spots on the side of the dance floor but that is probably there down fall because everyone was chilling the girls where straight fat and skinny ones are bitchy. The bartender had an attitude problem ALL OF THEM. She Over charged me for a shot of Aliza $24 dollars and told me wheres her tip for a half cup of Aliza. I'm not a heavy drinker but i know thats just too much, The bouncers cater to the people they know as far as dress code goes. All the guys had hats on and white tee's and sneakers and bandanna's i felt disrespected to have to go through the strip search and see other people wearing what ever. At the end of the night they tell you to use the exit down stairs and the bouncers won't let you exit from where you came so if you left anything with one of them it was there's to keep. What a site, Good luck too them with there fake flayers and bs search to steal your gear.
Pros: Good looking
Cons: Everything else
