Guaranteed to be the worst club you will ever go to!!!. I've got to say this is the worst club in the city. If you are going to spend your money, I warn you, you will be greatly disappointed. The ambiance leaves much to be desired, the waitresses are rude and unhelpful. it's so not worth the cover charge, please spare yourself the regret, IT'S NOT WORTH IT.
depends on the party.
What many people don't seem to realize is that Rebel NYC is divided into 2 separate parties. Years ago, when the club was called Downtime, the owners would open up all 3 floors. Now, they split the place up so they can have two separate parties. I've been going on Friday nights when the upstairs party is predominantly black, and the downstairs party is predominantly white. Different music, different themes, different crowd.
The downstairs parties don't have bottle service, and the bartenders are quick. The downstairs has 2 rooms, each with their own bars and DJs, and a smaller space to chill out upstairs (The second floor is small because they divided it in half for the upstairs party. Bouncers ensure that you don't cross parties without paying a separate fee.)
I was there 2 weeks ago (9/23/11) and the party was promoted by burners (people who attend Burning Man). Wherever they go, the group's artists paint and put up installations so the space looks colorful and fun. Tonight I'm attending a party for NY's Fetish Tribe. This crowd usually sets up a bunch of BDSM equipment, and the vibe is more low key. There can be a line outside, but I've never waited more than 10 minutes. The bouncers have never been rude to us. I don't know if the club opens on time, because who goes to a club at 10 pm?? My only complaint is the Ladies Room. It's dark and dingy, which makes it hard to check your hair and makeup.
Not the greatest looking club!. I went here for a show last week. It was my first time going to a club in the city so I was pretty excited. I really like clubs that have really nice decor. I must say this place does not have nice decor. I feel like the decor makes the club and this decor was completely not doing it for me. I don't think I'll be going here again. Its just not my taste.
Never again!.
Before going to this club I've read reviews but did not just listen!
So last night I went out for my cousin Birthday. It was at Rebel in the city so I went to look it up online. They compared themselves to A Websters Hall so I thought the crowd would be similar too. So I met up With my Cousin and on the way there he told me he wasnt sure about this place after reading the reviews. He said the pros were the hot bartenders and the cons were everything else! LOL So we show up to this building with A Monster line outside and my cousin told me this was it. The place looked like a Warehouse!!!! My other cousin shows up and says the same crap! lol WTF So We cross the street and There is nothing BUT Niggas outside, not blacks, not african americans, Niggas! lol This crowd was wild looking. It was some hood niggas, some hoochies, and some old ass homies and ladies in there. I even Saw Carl Winslow in this place! So while waiting for my cousin to show up, a fight breaks out outside of the club and I now knew what I was in for. Now lets be honest here, as a mixed kid I kinda straddle the fence on the kind of person I am. I like to be in the grey area, the undecided area. I hang with a mixed group of people from all types of races. This was FAR from my crowd. I knew I had to channel my black side to make it through the night! lol
So my cousin Erica Shows up and she has VIP for her birthday. So I figure you go straight in and into your spot. NOPE! We wait on the "VIP" line for like 20 minutes in the brick ass cold! So we finally get in and Some people are in our VIP section and they were saying that THEY had VIP too! so we had to wait 10 minutes for these people to get outta our spot until we could sit down! So part of the deal my cousin got for her VIP was two bottles of Nuvo and a Bottle of Champagne. They brought out 2 HOT ASS BOTTLES of Nuvo and no champagne! It takes them another 15 minutes to bring that out. Now the floor we are on is all hip hop music but they have 2 DJs. These dudes are playing different music And you had to be Right by the DJ booth to hear just one of them! This place was OD Ghetto and disorganized. So Now I need a drink so Me and my cousins go to the bar to get some shots for us and a b-day shot for my cousin. I ask them to give us three Kamikazes shots and this bitch looks at me like im speaking chinese! lol she has no idea what that is! WTF so we end up getting three rum and cokes and A Shot of Henny for my cousin (She already was in touch with her black side lol) for FIFTY TWO DOLLARS! Your telling me this ghetto ass place has the nerve to charge 13 dollars a drink!!? How is that even possible! So our next move was to the dancefloor and it was Mad creepy black dudes in here. It reminded me of Back home in Neptune. Dudes just grabbin girls And trying to get all wild. Once again, not my scene. Later on into the night my cousin has to ask ppl if they can make room for her at her OWN vip table! I still cant understand why there was no security at each table to prevent this. One of the guys at the table HITS my girl cousin! Then security escorts my cousin out! I even got sucker punched while holding jackets in my hand
great experience for my 21st bday. my sister chose this place for me and my twin brother to celebrate our 21st bday with a group of friends.we were told that we would be free before 12 am but if we made it there after 12 that wed have to pay only 10. well we got there at 12.03 am and were told to pay 20 bucks to get in! i was annoyed but decided not to stress it. the music was great! good hip-hop,reggae, r&b, etc, alllll night. the bartender was soooo nice. i was very disturbed by how high the prices were for the drinks (9.50 for a baybreeze!) but decided not to stress it. besides, my friends were buying me the drinks lol. i would definitly recommend this place to others. the bouncer was even nice and u dont see that often. my only complaint would be that the venue tried to make it seem like they had more to offer than they did. i was offered a free bottle of champagne over the phone for my bday but didnt see one at all. and i didnt like that i was played into paying 20 bucks to get it but honestly, it was 20 dollars well spent :-)
NO Good. Wow, where do I start about this club. I went on a Sunday after the Dominican Day Parade I took a flayers and it read "Foam party with performances by Marcy place and Mr.Vegas". I didn't know how Marcy Place was but I did know who Mr. Vegas was so I went. At the top of the steps you are greeted by security guards that are jail house rude. They tell you to basically strip, I took of my shoes, shirt, fitted, and everything out of my pockets. They took my hat and the due rag and told me I could pick it up after the party but if it got lost or stolen they are NOT reliable for it What type of non-scene is that? I agree to the terms and kept it moving. It was 12.30am when we got in and NO ONE was there the place was dead until 1.30 -2:00am and from there is was a sausage fest, there was like one girl for every 10 guys at the club, No foam and No Mr. Vegas. On top of all That the downstairs bathroom smells like garbage because the an doesn't work. The club overall Look beautiful nice scene coaches, lounge spots on the side of the dance floor but that is probably there down fall because everyone was chilling the girls where straight fat and skinny ones are bitchy. The bartender had an attitude problem ALL OF THEM. She Over charged me for a shot of Aliza $24 dollars and told me wheres her tip for a half cup of Aliza. I'm not a heavy drinker but i know thats just too much, The bouncers cater to the people they know as far as dress code goes. All the guys had hats on and white tee's and sneakers and bandanna's i felt disrespected to have to go through the strip search and see other people wearing what ever. At the end of the night they tell you to use the exit down stairs and the bouncers won't let you exit from where you came so if you left anything with one of them it was there's to keep. What a site, Good luck too them with there fake flayers and bs search to steal your gear.
this place was terrible. thursday i went to this club and let me say the manager was horrible, firstly the club is supposed to open at 10 and wasn't open till 1230, secondly, when you run a business esp. a club you should know what you are doing and be personable bc that is how you make money, we were gonna buy a bottle but the waitresses were rude and a complete downfall for the club, so i decided to keep my money, the bartender that waited on us, i can't say a damn thing bad about her, not only was she a beautiful blonde girl she was extremely sweet as well, she is very good for business prob. the only thing that club has going for them..all i can say is if you are deciding to go to REBEL save your money and time and oh wait i forgot the other bartender a light skinned black girl was stealing all night i saw the girl not ringing things in and just putting the money in her pocket, great place this was...This place was a complete joke, it'll prob be closed in a couple of months due to all the illegal things going on in this place
Are you serious!? This place was terrible!. I grew up in NY and got tired of the club scene really fast. I made the mistake of thinking I'd been missing something and went to Rebel last night (Sat 5/3/08). At 11pm, no one was there but awkward, out of place stiffs. By midnight, it was overrun with totally trashy types. $50 minimum for credit cards (fine, whatever) but drinks in plastic cups are $10 apiece - which is about $9.50 worth of ice and mixer. The DJ was OK but the crowd was obviously bussed in from Webster Hall (not surprisingly, considering the owner). The bikini-clad stripper jiggling on a platform nearby certainly caught the eye of the guy taking close-ups of her crotch on his camera phone. But when the moron behind the bar (who, seriously, must be someone's unemployable nephew...) charged me $70 for $50 in drinks, my friend and I lost it. Do we look like stupid drunk girls who can't count? I will never be going back. May never venture into a club again if this is what I've been missing.
Club Rebel was awesome. I went to Rebel on Friday night.,I had a great time with last memories as a result, I ran a tab at the bar with a beautifully blonde and gorgeous bartender named Lydon that was just a pleasure...She informed me that she would be keeping my credit card and also my license and that I would return them when I left, I told her not to lose them, of course I was the one who got drunk and forgot my credit card and license, the following night I went back to the club to see if I had left the card there, As I arrived I saw the bartender walking into work, before I could say anything she said I have your credit card and license upstairt in the safe...this is a statement at how responsible these employees are that this particular club, I was amazed, I never experienced such nice and responsible service where I am from...The bartender brought me to the manager, he informed me he would be right with me and that the cards were locked in the safe, they both provided very nice and professional service....For anyone who is looking to go to a hot spot, with good looking bartenders, and patrons, should high consider club rebel, I honestly had such a great night
Big venue and outstanding music. Went to Rebel last night for the first time. I was shocked by how big it was. Has 3 floors. A ton of room and plenty of bars. On the top floor, they were playing a mix of hip-hop, reggae and r+b. The DJ was completely on point. He plenty just about every new and old party classic. He was even willing to take requests and was quite nice when approached about requests. All of my friends had a good time. We stayed until 4 am.
