“The food is quite delicious and prices are reasonable.”
I love the food here. I have been to Serge quite a few times and will continue going back all the time. The food is delicious and it is one of the most delightful French restaurants in New York City. I love the wine and the tastes. I look forward to coming back to eat at this great restaurant.
Great friendly owner, poor quality and poor food preparation. I can understand why others like the restaurant. The owner Serge is just wonderful, talks with all his guests and may just give you a hug. However, the food on the other hand is a different story. We started with the ceasar salad which was average and the appetizers which were below average. For the main course we ordered steak and lamb dishes. The lamb shank was extremely tender and fell right of the bone, but the sauce was just average. The pepper steak had decent sauce hiding a very poor quality and poorly cooked piece of meat, very stringy, fatty, and unevenly cooked. I threw most of it away. Above average desserts, below average coffee. Despite all this I was most disappointed with the wine selection and ability of Serge to help you pick. After going home I found out the wine Serge picked for me carefully was just the wine that he made the best margin on; even though, it was one of the cheaper wines on the menu. All in all, I am a big time foodie, and will never go back or recommend anyone go there.
Great Place for Your Date and Celebrate.
You really can't go wrong with Boulevard.
As long as you don't get all hyped up!
Everything is solid. The food, the decor, the service. My fav though are the DESSERTS.
Great place to take your folks, a date, or just celebrate.
Thumbs up.
A little Paris on Madison. My wife and I were staying at the Union League for the NYC Marathon. We were looking for a nice quite, friendly good restuarnt in the neighborhood around 37th and Madison/Park. What a pleasant surpise to actually find one in NY. Despite being on Madison it was a little like Paris, a solid restuarnt for the locals and yet served a quality meal by helpful staff in pleasant surroundings. I thought this was a sold four star reasonably priced and excellent food properly prepared. What else cn you ask for? I would not hesitate going there when in the area .
romantic dinner.... Romantic? YES. View? Amazing. Food? Deeeeelish. We came to Serge for the whole experience and we were not let down one bit. Beautiful restaurant, terrific service, fantastic food and oozing with ambiance. There are so many fine dining establishments in NY, and although I havent eaten at them all - I can't imagine many having the same total package as Serge.
An authentic French restaurant with delightful service. What a amazing experience. The owner Serge is always around to greet you with a Bon Jour, and make sure that you are happy throughout your meal. The wine list is great, the menu selection is wonderful..and the food is something memorable and delicious. Overall a very romantic, beautiful restaurant
A find in midtown.
it's hectic at lunchtime;too busy....better have reservations....much better for dinner...more relaxed....the menu is great and varied....the food is good....the wine list more than appropriate for a bistro and the prices are great....Serge (the guy in the white coat) is always ready to help and talk to you about anything and everything....so you're immediately part of the "inner circle". I was impressed by the cleanliness....the beautiful flowers on the bar, the french music, and the art on the wall....All in all, do try it....it's worth it and it's fun
cons too hectic at lunchtime
pro fun place to dine
Great French experience in midtown.
If you want to find a good French restaurant in midtown near the Empire State Building this is it!
From the warmth of Serge who greets you at the door to the service by competent and pretty women
you'll be seduced. The food is quite delicious and prices are reasonable. The wine list is competent and well chosen wines abound. The mood at lunch is a little busy and hectic, dinner is a more relaxed and pleasant affair. The restaurant glows with candles on every tables and warm colors on the walls as well as interesting paintings. Serge is an art collector and he loves to talk to you about art, about food, about politics, about cigars, about anything... he is an entertainer. Let him guide you and charm you, you'll have a great time. This is truly Paris in New York.
Prix Fixe is a great bargain. I've eaten here several times and always been happy. The Prix Fixe around $25 is a terrific bargain, and I've had good salmon and pasta dishes. Sat for several hours with 2 friends from work the other night without anyone trying to move us along. A good choice for French bistro food in Manhattan.
comme si-comme sa. we stumbled on to the restaurant on a rainy evening, and had an OK dinner. We had the Pre-fix dinner- onion soup, I had the salmon, she had the hnager steak and we both had the pear tart. The soup was Ok, the crounton awas too salty and buttered and the cheese was a bit too much, the slamon was decent, but the pureed carrots and potatoes were not very good. The tart was too sweet and caramelized. Dine if you must, but there are better options.
