Editorial Review for Rita Hazan – by Lynn Suhrie
In Short
Moving her solo venture to a larger space, celebrity stylist Rita Hazan has pulled together a salon-spa hybrid filled with lively, happy energy. Music pumps down a long corridor of treatment rooms (for microdermabrasion, facials, and a revolutionary spray-on tanning that goes on clear) to a buzzing room where stylists converse with their clients, seated in mod white leather chairs before sunken mirrors. Eyebrow guru Ramy also calls the space home, and has toted his line of makeup along, too.

What to DrinkCappuccino and espresso is on offer in terms of beverages.
The ExtrasFor the publicity shy, the just plain shy, and men who shy away from women's salons but want the services, there's a VIP room hidden away and equipped with a TV, fax machine and laptop.
ManicuresStandard manis are $30 and pedis are $70, but why go with the norm when you can get one with champagne ($40 for the mani, $85 for the pedi, or $120 for both)?

I never really write reviews, but I was compelled to today. I don't see Rita, so this is coming from a completely different perspective. Who in their right mind finds a celebrity colorist from a magazine or TV show, then books an appointment with them without asking the price and then complains that the person was too busy, or doing their makeup or that they charged too much or they only cared about the celeb that was there????? When I first called the salon I never even asked to see Rita! I asked for their recomendation. That's like going to Gucci and complaing that you can buy the same wallet at Target for $5. Your paying for status, for a label when you see someone like Rita. Of course she is going to be expensive! I mean come on, If you can't afford her, don't see her. I go to the salon and see Carrie for color. She is young, fresh, and is very talented. Her pricing is reasonable for the city and her work is consistent. I also have seen Sean James and Haruo who are each amazing. Really friendly, personable and both have done a consistent job whether it is a cut or style. Also Arsi has done waxing once and I swear that woman does not have a bad bone in her body. I encourage people to think before they decide to see someone. Don't just trash their name because you weren't happy, go to someone that will make you happy! I personally love Carrie, Sean, Haruo and Arsi. I love to watch the celebrities (I was there when Jennifer Lopez was! Very exciting) I love the action. I love the front desk, they are so nice and hysterical!
Pros: Carrie, Haruo, Sean James and Arsi
Cons: None

I'm a freelance makeup artist who works out of the Rita Hazan Salon. I was hurt by BadBettie's review. I know . when Rita is quiet, she is thinking about correcting hair color. Quiet can seem to be unfriendly. Color correction is a difficult process and she is only trying to give that her full attention. I also do Rita's makeup quit often. We have fun at the salon and try to inspire the clients. I might be the guilty one who was doing the makeup. We both love makeup and hair color.it goes hand- in -hand . Sorry you had such a bad experience and I have taken your critisim to heart since I may have been involved.
