“We tried to order a very simple drink: a dirty martini.”

“The menu is astonishing in its rich variety of sushi and sashimi on one side and hot Japanese fusion dishes on the other.”
“Very nice place to hang out with friends and not feel rushed.”
“We passed by on opening night by chance and immidiatley loved the music and the decor: clean, classy yet modern and hip and not in any way overwhelming - the staff is also very warm and friendly, which adds to the great atmosphere.”
“our group of 6 was placed right by the door which was freezing since whenever someone opened the door a huge guest of wind would come in.”
“Good sushi slow service”
is it closed?. Went for dinner and it was boarded over but the awning was still up. Is it closed for good? let me know!
Average!. I have been there twice and i can say that this place is totally average.Ambiance is nice but the service and food quality would be better.
This is a place to Relax and enjoy food!.
Hi people I don?t believe we?re talking about the same restaurant.
I went there a few days ago and I loved it!
People were very nice and the food was great!
The chef came out from the kitchen just to explain us the history of the dish and all the ingredients on it!
They don?t have actually lots of liquors but I?m sure you didn?t try them cocktails. Mediterranean and Brazilian cocktails. Lots of different fruits in it?just fantastic!
I found out that the management is changing?so it?s all very new for them and some clients just don?t enjoy the place and chill?
That is a place where you go and relax while enjoying the food and not a place where you go and look at the clock every minute if you know what I mean.
Quite simply: Absolute Disaster.. My boyfriend and I went to have a romantic dinner on Valentine's Day and it could not have been worse service, music, or drinks selection. We were waited on by the restaurant's accountant who did not have a clue about waiting on people nevermind speaking English. We tried to order a very simple drink: a dirty martini. Apparently, olive juice is some type of unique ingredient that a new restaurant does not carry. We ordered a chicken tempura dish (a Japanese food staple), which after 50 minutes they told us they ran out of. When we got our miso soup, one was served cold. I didn't know you had to specify actually wanting your food warmed before it is served. The decor is relatively pleasing had the music not stopped every 20 minutes. I have never had such a terrible experience at a restaurant before. I do not recommend this place.
Outstanding.
The place is beautiful...perfect for any special occasion for 2. The specialty rolls were outstanding, especially the White Tuna Roll, the Soho Sunset Rolls, and I think it was a grilled Eel Roll. Fish was fantastically fresh and whatever sauces they had in the rolls were amazing.
If you're sick of your favorite sushi restaurant and looking for something great but different....this is it.
Great Rock Shrimp...Ambience is a gem. The decor was outstanding and very romantic although it is a good place for friends too. It is trendy but without the attitude. The food was good...not mind boggling...however there is one dish that I would go back there just to eat. The ROCK SHRIMP....somebody pinch me cuz I am dreaming. It was the highlight of the night. The service was great although pour waitress sometimes was a lil too attentive. I gets two thumps up from me.
Glam Japanese. Upbeat venue featuring imaginative dishes. Good atmosphere, service and prices. Look out for the predators!
not bad. . but not good either.
I ate at K last night with my family and here is the rundown. Nice looking place. Cerviche appetizer is pretty good. The yellowtail with jalapeno app. was weird. This is one of my fav. starters and fresh jalapeno slices makes this dish awesome. The jalapeno served with the fish was a weird color like it had been pickled. Not good and kinda strange. Also, the yellowtail was mushy. It didnt seem old but it didnt have a firm texture like it should. Ordered the sushi boat - average. Nothing interesting on the boat. The boat has ust enough food on it to avoid seeming skimpy. No rice or any extras. Ordered some rolls and some tuna and eel sashimi - average. Not memorable and not tasty. We had the salad with ginger dressing. The dressing was less sweet than most other restaurants. Pretty good.
I tried to make a reservation in the morning and the voicemail said it was BYOB. I arrived with a lot of alchohol just to find out that they just got a liqour license a couple of days before. I had bought $100 worth of alcohol so I was pretty mad. I was sort of embarrassed to use my alchohol so we ordered drinks instead. The drinks at K were ok. Like the food - average. Nothing special. Dessert was poor. Vanilla ice cream was exactly that. 3 scoops of plain ice cream. No presentation, no sauce, nothing. the green tea ice cream was the same. The coffee we ordered was old and bitter. (great dishes though) Service was horrible. It actually took 4 people to bring over our trays of drinks when we started the meal. The time in between courses were unreasonably long. The waitress did not speak English well and seemed to nod more than she understood. She was pleasent but not efficient.
Dinner for 4 was $375.00 including tip. For a meal that certainly didnt excite or challange the customer, it seems high even for NY.
The restaurant has potential but the chef needs to try alot harder. Hiring a specialist in desserts would be a suggestion.
Highly recommended, order the Tuna Martini app!!!. I set up a dinner party for my fiance 30th birthday party at K Japanese Restaurant last Friday. The dinner party was for 25 people or so, some locals, and some guests from out of town. Overall, the service and food was great. I visited the restaurant prior to booking the dinner party and the layout, decoration, and ambience of the restaurant were awesome. I reserved the party with Charlie (1 of the owners) and he was very helpful and willing to do what was necessary. The party was a success; the staff was very nice and ensured that everyone was served in a timely manner. Highly recommended, thanks again K!!! P.S. order the Tuna Martini, can't wait to go back and have them again...
The best place to byo in the city. Ok, maybe the only byo in the city but Kay's sushi totally rocks. I can now have champagne and decadent sushi and not pay those ridiculous nyc jacked up liquor prices. Yay!!!! I hope they keep this policy even after they get their liquor license. Hint, hint.
