“This place is huge!”
Ricardo!. I just picked this salon only because they have the same 5 star rating on both yelp and citysearch. I called and was recommended RIcardo by the manager. OK, I said and I showed up. I instantly liked Ricardo's unpretentious attitude. He's rather quiet (I like it) but very attentive. Then he started working on my hair in a way that I couldn't imagine what they end results would be. He SCULPTED my completely fried hair into something that's moving, updated and sexy. I FOUND MY HAIR GURU. That's worth every penny. Thanks! Sophia

A Hair Hot Spot. Chill out with a glass of wine while waiting for your appointment in the heart of the hip Meat Packing district, converse with Philip Pelusi the creator of Tela organic hair care products, and pamper yourself with a fabulous hair cut from master stylist Ray.
Fabulous Hair Heaven!. This place is simply Gorgeous! Interior is superior! The staff are so warm and friendly. Each stylist keeps his/her station very clean. The environment is old fashion meets modern. When I first walked in, I thought it was a beautiful hotel or some sort. Then when I went into the hair studio, it's another story. This place is huge!!! I got a really cool edgy haircut from senior stylist and colorist Ray. He was so nice and professional. He hung up my coat and got me a glass of water. Treated me like one of his old friends:) I love my haircut, and so is my mum! I'm going back for color session next week, and I can't wait^_^ Ray has lots experience and trained with Vidal Sasson in London. He kept me feeling pampered and we had such a great time! He also told me how to maintain my hair and haircut. Lots of great insight tips:) I can't ask for more! I recommend everyone, male and female, any ages, to go to Tela for a wonderful experience. Even the CEO of Tela, Philip Pelusi, was introduced to me. He was really cool and casual. I will keep going back for trimming, cut, and color! If you ever decide to go to Tela Hair Design Studio, make sure you ask for Ray (senior Creative Stylist/Colorist)!
Gorgeous color and amazing service!. I recently went to Tela for highlights, but after Ray examined the state of my hair -- he told me it was time for a change. Thankfully, I listened. Ray -- a London-trained genius -- did a combination of highlights and color on my hair and turned it from a head of straw to sleek, healthy hair. I absolutely love the results! He also did a trim on my hair, giving me side-swept bangs that are incredibly easy to style. I have been to a lot of fantastic salons in NYC, but Ray's time and attention (and great personality) really won me over. Plus, the all-natural shampoo and hair product they use smells like heaven. Run, don't walk, to Tela!
Beauty Hotspot and Celebrity Hangout: Tela Design Studio. This haute salon is the only local addition to renowned stylist/photographer Philip Pelusi's hair empire. In an elegant former warehouse space, Tela offers cuts, color, straightening, extensions, and an array of organic hair "facials" that use watercress, sea kelp, papaya, sage and other fragrant ingredients in Pelosi's own formulations. Clients relish the royal treatment, with Arium's tea and scones served in fine bone china on linen-decked trays.
Fantastic.. I loved Robbie's work - he made me feel beautiful again - im not sure about the management though. In any case, I recommend it highly - despite the management
A classically elegant retreat for peaceful, organic pampering and--should it be desired--afternoon tea service..
In Short
Passing through the Arium Cafe en route to this airy 19th century-inspired salon may arouse hunger, but clients are immediately sated by the eye candy of elegant wood, curlique-carved mirrors and ornate marble-topped tables. That, and the salon's signature organic treatment--a conditioning mask called the "hair facial"--which infuses starved strands with delicious ingredients such as sugar maple, balm mint and sage. For real appetites, though, everything on Arium's menu is available during any treatment, be it a cut, color, hair extension or manicure.
